PRS MAN
I have a Art and Lutherie acoustic guitar. thats all i know, idont know the style anything but that is not a single or double cut. The frets seem to be in ok condition, but when i play with a capo on it sounds a little bongy, and you can sorta hear it come out of tune a little, and if my capo is off, it sounds real deep. It dont stay in tune alot and its a pain in the butt when playing at youthgroup band practice. So i was going to replace my nut with this nut http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/p...-Nut?sku=360615 replace my electric GHS Jammers Medium strings with these acoustic strings (even tho most guitarists use acoustic on acoustic, since its a electric acoustic, i think the electric strings sound better but im giong to give these a go.) http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/GHS-Bright-Bronze-Acoustic-String-Low-E?sku=100521 and i was going to see how it was after those adjustments, if it still didnt satisfy my desires i was thinking bout changing the tunning pegs and maybe putting a plug in the sound hole, heres what i would use these tunning pegs http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Grover-205C-3PerSide-Mini-Tuners?sku=361002 or these gibson http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/p...tons?sku=306089 http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/p...over?sku=369300 or this sound plug http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/p...Plug?sku=360746 my theory behind this is strings effect tone big time, and maybe using elctric strings wasnt that bright, and second of all i believe my nut is old and needs replace, i can just tell from feeling it and seeing it, and the tunning pegs to keep it in tune, and the sound plug i thought when playing it acousticily it could help deaded some of the annoying feed back from the natural tone of the guitar _________________________ _____DISCIPLE_ROCKS_____ PAUL REED SMITH GUITARS 4 EVER

Guitar Guy
Oh-you had electric stings on there? yeah get those off first and see what happens before you do anything else. Yep, absolutely! The characteristics of Phosphor Bronze acoustic strings ar considerably different to Nickel electric strings.... changing stings will have a much bigger effect than bridge, nut etc. Some good general info here: Guitar String Info Guitar hand trainer
Caevan O’Shite
Yhup. Plus, put 12s- "lights" for an acoustic guitar- on there, I bet that the electric-strings you had put on it were too light for an acoustic, and having less tension also probably "squished" under the capo and went sharp and generally out-of-tune from string to string. Larryz
11-52's D Addario EXP coated if you want a nice acoustic sound and keep your fingers from turning black...nothing wrong with running electric strings as Taylor equips the T5 with 11-49 Elixirs with an unwrappped 3rd...I also run them on my acoustic and once it's plugged in it sounds just fine with the Piezo but I mainly use it as a practice guitar to match the T5 string guage & feel...GHS Santana 10.5 electric/acoustic big core strings sound pretty good also especially if you want to do some blues bending, but if you're true to the acoustic sound, the phospher bronze will probably get your best mic'ed sound...haven't tried the Red Brand copper bronze yet, maybe someone will chime in on them... Danzilla
haven't tried the Red Brand copper bronze yet, maybe someone will chime in on them... I was in GC last Saturday to get a variety of items, and was all set to try the Reds. the salesman told me that his manager is steering everyone away from them; that they sound like crap and don't last long. I was going to get them just out of defiance (who really trusts a GC salesman?), just to give them a try; but they only had .011 sets, and they were sold as 2-packs, so more than I wanted for a trial. I still wouldn't mind trying them sometime just for grins; maybe another local store will sell them as single sets.
