mcdj85
Yes, another S80 question (I've been waiting to use that one) So I'm a beginning keyboardist, self taught, and got an S80 from someone for free. The thing is, though, it's missing some keys in the 1st and last octaves. I do like some of the sounds, though, and I was wondering how easy it is to replace the keys? Also, the bottom plate is falling off, and I can't even move it without wrapping it tightly in something so it doesn't fall apart. Should I pay for the repairs, suck it up, or replace it? Is it possible to just rip the keyboard off of there altogether and just use it as a sound module and get a controller? Thanks.
DanS
Is it possible to just rip the keyboard off of there altogether and just use it as a sound module and get a controller? Sounds like this is what the previous owner tried to do. You can always get in touch with Yamaha for the keys, if the rest of it is literally falling apart, sounds like you need to get your re-assembly skills happening. Using it as a sound module is not an option. IMO. What we record in life, echoes in eternity.
