Jode
Bow your heads, gentlemen, a great man has passed. Louie Bellson was a superb drummer; a first rate composer of everything from big-band charts to orchestral works to drum method books; and a real class act. Not to mention, he was an innovator - metalheads the world over have him to thank for the double bass drum kit. Here's a little of what the old man could do. Go with God, Louie Bellson, and thank you so much. Obituary here. "I had to have something, and it wasn't there. I couldn't go down the street and buy it, so I built it." jeremy c
Sorry to hear that. Besides his innovative drumming, he also wrote books. Modern Reading Text in 4/4 Time is a great book and it helped my reading immensely. Free download of my cd!.
wraub
IMO he was a much better drummer than Buddy Rich, and by all accounts a nicer guy as well. I have long been a fan. Sad to hear this. Peace, wraub p.s. Jode, it isn't often seen that a post contains both "go with god" and "suck it". Well done..? I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here. Jode
IMO he was a much better drummer than Buddy Rich, and by all accounts a nicer guy as well. Although, to both men's credit, they were both pretty snazzy dressers. Louie always looked like a million bucks. p.s. Jode, it isn't often seen that a post contains both "go with god" and "suck it". Well done..? Uh, thanks? Yeah, changed my sig line. Sports is over until August. "I had to have something, and it wasn't there. I couldn't go down the street and buy it, so I built it."
