Gruuve
I've been listening to a group from Italy called Lacuna Coil quite a bit. For a gothic metal group, I have to say that I really like their composition, their arrangment, the way their mixes are done, etc. (It doesn't hurt that one of their two lead singers is a hot Italian babe, too!) The bassist plays a 5-string (and it might even be tuned down, haven't checked) but I love how his bass lines sit in the mix. That kind of prominent low and growly bass vibe was my goal in metal bands a decade ago (but never quite got it there!). Anyway, here's a great clip IMO...there are a bunch of good songs on the Kharmacode CD IMHO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDaDtHMgVxM Old bass players never die, they just buy lighter rigs. - Tom Capasso, 11/9/2006
zeronyne
A lot of promise, no followthrough. All the songs start off with a monster hook but then turn into Europop. There was a lot of potential there. "For instance" is not proof.
DavidMPires
I listen to them in their really early days about 2000, I used to like them but I don't listen to much metal nowadays www.myspace.com/davidbassportugal "And then the magical unicorn will come prancing down the rainbow and we'll all join hands for a rousing chorus of Kumbaya." - by davio
EddiePlaysBass
Got their debut album. It's ok but not spectacular. Cute front woman though "I'm a work in progress." Micky Barnes The Ross Brown Shirt World Tour
Davo-London
Nice snare tone Dave. Actually the drummer, nor anyone else come to that, didn't over-complicate the track, which is good. The bassist plays around his ankles, which is tres important. Good arrangement. davio
Lacuna Coil formed around the same time as Evanescence and 1/2-way around the world. I'm not particularly fond of either but I do think Cristina Scabbia is easier on the eyes.
