Thoughts on Blitzen Trapper...

Still Learning

Recommended Posts

So I'm readin' Rolling Stone and their review of this Portland Oregon band called Blitzen Trapper and their latest album Furr and I like what I'm reading about the band members (5 guys, of which 3 play keys).

Rolling Stone gives Furr 4 of 5 stars so I listen to the album HERE and I find This Write-up about an old beat-up piano that the band finds in the hallway and ends up using on several tracks on the album. Check out the tracks Not Your Lover and Echo for a taste of what the band calls The Beast (i.e. that old piano).

The Rolling Stone article says: The band leader (Eric Earley) has had many obsessions including bluegrass, quantum physics, science fiction, God, fishing, camping, and Neil Young and somehow Eric Earley weaves all of them into one of the most gorgeous rock albums of the year!

Check it out (especially Not Your Lover and Echo) and let us know what you think....

When most people go to work, they work. When musicians go to work, they play. Which do you prefer?
