yannis D
I'm not on of the lucky ones to have dinner and jam with him but i had the remerkable pleasure to see Joey De Francesco perform in Athens last night with the "Gadd Gang". Gadd was on the drums, Paul Bollenback on the guitar and Rony Cuber on the bariton sax. The program included mainly r'n'b, blues, some nice ballads, one or two boogaloos and a latin/bebop version of Caravan -as fast as it gets. Joey D was impressive playin' all these inhuman lines with grace, keepin' the groove steady and playing trumpet as well in a tune while holding the bass eith his foot... Cuber was really good, walking around the stage with his enormous sax, playin' second lines and subbing for the bass parts wherever needed and playin' some really BIG solos! Gadd was good as always, especialy on the r'n'b/.blues side. From all 4, it was Joey that burned down the house and earned the most handclapping and screaming (yes!). Be grateful for what you've got - a Nord, a laptop and two hands
