Davo confession: new bass build - Cliff Bordwell

Folks,

 

Not sure if you're interested but I thought I should tell the community about my 20th wedding anniversary present being created by Cliff Bordwell in Florida:

Cliff builds 4 basses at a time, mine is the 4-string the specification is as follows:

 

Bass: fretted 4-string ball bass

 

Wood

Body: Walnut

Body top: Flamed maple

Neck: Maple/wenge neck

Nut: Stabilized Ebony

Fretboard: Honduran Rosewood 16" radius

 

Dimensions

Scale: 34"

Neck shape: C

Thickness at 1st: 0.810" 20.6 mm

Width at nut: 1.5" / 38 mm

String spacing at Bridge: 0.75" / 19 mm

Body thickness: 1.525" / 39 mm

 

Hardware

Color: Chrome

Bridge: Hipshot style A

Tuners: Hipshot ultralites

Truss rod: Two-way adjustable

Frets: 24

Strap buttons

Output: 1/4" Face mount

 

Electronics

Pickups: Nordstrand Big singles (2)

Preamp: Audere 3ZB, with 3-band EQ, master vol / blend

Controls: master vol/blend/treble/mid/bass,Z-switch and LED

 

Oh and I bought my wife a signed picture by Matisse. Created by Matisse's team in his last year.

 

The bass should be ready just after Christmas in Florida.

Very Nice Davo. Look forward to the Bass Off with you and Alex :)

 

Spend some time in those hotel rooms composing a 'Song for Matisse'. You can play it to Mrs. London while she enjoys the picture.

 

Are you going to go to Florida to pick it up. I think you should.

Very nice - should be a beauty. I've never tried any of Cliff's basses, but they look great. I'll bet it's going to sound wonderful with those electronics and Cliff's woodwork.
