RDuke
Originally posted by SkiNNY MulLIGan: ....actually, the main purpose of me posting it was to see if anyone knew if i can copyright the lyrics...
Hey Skinny, I wondered the first time I heard this song. I think what you're really asking is do you have to pay licensing/royalty fees for each song title you copped in your lyrics(?). You can certainly copyright your Sound Recording, regardless of content. From what I know, song titles in and of themselves are not copyrightable; IOW you can't claim a title as your own and prevent others from using that same title. Since portions of your lyrics are song titles, it's a gray area. You'll probably do best by asking an entertainment lawyer, but even then, you might get different answers. Damned near shut it off right away but I just happened to be tied up or I'd a shut it down. With me getting me caught up a bit, it turned out the tune went farther than I wanted it to. Once that freaking distortion went to the background it's ok. Hell I listened to it three times. Wouldn't buy it but it's kewl for that style. Steve Presley
Thanks so much for your response to our tune Dak! It means a lot to have your opinion I appreciate your time in downloading and listening to the song 3 times. The sound of the guitar is cool to me, but I appreciate your constructive criticsm. It's a vintage Dean played through a mesa boogie pre into nuendo. I really don't know what musical styles you like but this is just the first of many songs I will ask the forum to listen too as soon as they come out of the hopper. They're all written and just trying to finish them up in our home studio. Constructive criticism is a great thing and the forums and your time are very valuable to me. Sometimes it takes a little time to let things grow on you. In my opinion this is no where near our best song, just the first one somewhere near ready. Please visit the mp3 site when you can and you can learn a bit more what we are all about. The page should be updated soon, and I'd like for folks to read our story. I listen to stuff off this sight all the time and feel we're all in this together as independents. Have a great day! :D Out of the pan and into the fire! Dak Lander
Well, i'm tossing myself to the wolves again. This tune is one that was written by Shel Silverstein & done by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. This is my remake of the tune, done by Dakota Night a few years ago. It was our very first time in studio & all critique is welcomed. I'd be interested to get an idea of where & how you all think the mix/master/presentatione & etc. is. flyscots
Craig, great idea, maybe there should be a whole new Forum for this to cover the amount of posts. I am actually throwing this in for a friends band back in Scotland. I can honestly say unbiasedly that these guys deserve to get noticed. OK the song on their website is by no means their best but please read the biog and the interview. halljams
Hey all. i know i haven't done any listening in a while and it seems to work real nice here in that people who post stuff to listen to, make a point of hanging around and listening and being constructive. So i'll go back to doin that some. My friend Brian Foulds and I are experimenting with some things and these two 30 sec commercial beds are an example So you know you may find yourself with a beautiful house, and a beautiful wife and you may ask yourself; how did i get here? and the days go by. and you still haven't listened to our songs yet. DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOU!!! Listen today friends. Yes, there is a free car . :) 2 littlemigiggys Check out SUPERVIBE

Cowfingers
right, well i havent touched this page in a while but i forgot to bring any CDs to work today so i recon this place is as good as any to get some aural stimulation. So..Halljams, those two new snippets rock. i remember listening to some of your stuff a while back and enjoying it a bit, but these i really like these two and look forward to hearing them in their entirety. the dirty bass sound in 'Edgy' is real cool and the 'new car' is as funky as a crippled crab on crutches...er..yup. :) just listening to Waxman now too - hate me if you want but i think the vocals sound like Michael Jackson. Now, flyscots - i couldnt really warm to your friends band...its just i cant stand vocals that are just a person screaming. (now maybe if i liked the genre it might be different but...sorry!) F_Fog - I quite liked the main Riff - real Celtic sounding. all in all the song sounded together (though i would have liked to hear it all but it stopped abruptly after about 3 minutes). its nicely recorded too (IMO anyway). CDave - i listened to your the first 3 of songs on your site, and the playing seemed good and together but again the vocals (to me) didnt quite sound melodic enough. it seemed that there was a lot of the song sung on just one note...other than that it seemed cool. i'll give more of your stuff a listen later and come back. -cowfingers Visit my band : www.neonfleacircus.net or www.myspace.com/neonfleacircus

The Suggestion i have is to do something about the redundant drum track. i like the spaces but then the drum track gets highlighted and i'm already sick of it so you know, what do i do? So perhaps some variety there and also i think some nice group female B/U's would be pretty cool.
