As above this is the first synth module I have purchased so it probabaly is quite a big both feet in leap to the world of synthesis. i know that at its heart it is just an overcomplicated rompler. Does anybody here know any good sites to start me on the path to shaping and creating my own sounds on this little gem. I know that it is AI synthasis and therefore not the easiest to learn but I am willing to give it a go.

I know I have heard good and bad things about this module but it was cheapish so I cannot argue too much. Initially I just wanted it for piano sounds as at the moment I have a master board and no sounds (very depressing)but as I am buying a workstation soon I thought that it would be good to have some korg sounds then I can look at either a fusion, fantom or motif and leave behind the dance orientated triton.

anyhow I still have a week to wait before I can collect so its time to start reading up on how to use and program it.

many thanks

I'm very familiar with the N1R/N5, X5, and 05R/W architectures. I'm not familiar with the NX5R, although it seems to be a enhanced NS5R. I'm guessing the architecture is basically the same. Chances are it is backward compatible with most sounds on the N1/N5, X5, and 05R/W.

If you don't have a patch editor then one is available here

http://www.squest.com/Windows/Instruments/n5/index.html

Korg has an N5 editor here

http://www.korguksupport.co.uk/page.cfm?pageid=458

which might work. Check the Korg NX5R page also.

I have a freeware sound editor for the N5 and related models and over 1,000 sounds, which will probably work on your NX5R. I can't find the link right now - if you can't find them ask me and I'll email them to you.

If you are into breath controller sounds then the Patchman Music 05R/W sound banks will probably work also. I have a copy, however they are licensed to me and I can't pass them on to anyone.
