loxley11
I'm sorry if this is in the archives somewhere, but thanks to the search engine, I get to wade through every thread with the word "Roland" in it. Ok rant over. What's the story with the software revisions on the vk-8? I think I read somewhere that there are multiple ones, and that the earlier ones were to be avoided. I've been checking them out on eBay but don't know what version number to be checking for. Anyone know anything about this? btw, I posted this exact thing in that "other" forum too. Byrdman
You can download it and do the update as long as you have a computer. Its quite straight-forward as long as you don't put your elbow in your ear. The latest version is still 2.0, and is available at Roland's web site
Sven Golly
If you're asking someone what version they have, ask them to press the Amp button 4 times. If the active LED's cycle through #1, then #2, then #3 then all 3 being on, it has the updated software. The original VK-8 only had the 3 amp sims. All 3 LED's signifies Amp Sim #4. There are only 2 OS versions out there; any other updates that may exist are only for service diagnostic purposes, and are unnecessary for end users. Also, the VK-8 v2.0 OS is the same as the VK-8m v1.0 software in terms of common features and sound.
loxley11
Thanks for the info. If all vk-8s are upgradable by computer, I should be fine whatever the case. drew "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" -Mike Tyson
