Mudcat
Maybe yes, maybe no. The specific piece of wood will affect the tone, but so will the pick-up electronics and set-up of the guitar. I have heard some alder-bodied Teles that were quite fat sounding. Likewise I have heard some ash bodied-Teles that sounded comparative thin. You are going to have to play the 52 model Tele in question to confirm how it actually sounds. HAve you considered replacing the pick-ups in your 62 reissue? That would be a relatively easy/inexpensive change in tonality. Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. The Geoff
Really, it's all about the pickups. Try Seamour Duncan Quarter Pounders. I have a Schaller T6 at 14.4K has more output, depth & crunch than a normal Les Paul, no matter what kind of wood it's set in.
