  1. The problem could be the tank but could be what drives the tank or amplifies the return signal from the tank. Those parts are all solid state devices. Tanks are not pricy and you might want to check this first. A tech can check the impedance of the tank and check for physical connection issues within the tank which are common. As always - thanks for your prompt & helpful reply.
  2. Myles, I have a Music Man RP120. The reverb on this amp has never sounded right since I got it years ago(there were at least two owners before me). I have cleaned the contact points on the tank in & out as well as the in & out on the amp itself. The reverb still sounds very quiet and is almost inaudible unless cranked to 10 (still very weak on that setting). It appears that some work may have been done on the tank at some point. Do you think the solution to this problem is simply replacing the tank? Thanks in advance!
  3. Mudcat - I do not know. It seems for now that just Craig's Sound Stage is moving away to HC. Thanks for the update!
  4. Hey Myles, I know that some of the other Musicplayer forums are going to migrate to Harmony Central pretty soon. Is the guitar forum is staying put? That's my hope. I have visited the HC guitar forums and the atmosphere over there is quite a bit different than here (to say the least). Mudcat
  5. You really need some legal counsel on this. Sit down and write down the entire series of events. If you don't have any cash for an attorney, check for one that works on contingency or look to see if there are any free legal aid agencies in your area who can let you know if you may have a case against your employer. I am not one who is usually in favor of pursuing lawsuits, but if your boss put you in a situation that was forcing you to quit because of health reasons I believe you should go after them.
  6. Mudcat ............ These are killer great amps. We have about 1/2 a dozen Music Man amps that are loaned out on tour to replace the "great" amps that die on the road trips from city to city. The big deal here is output tubes, as these run very high plate voltages. Make sure you have fresh output tubes and the amp is biased properly. Improper bias set too low (so the amp runs hot and harsh) is the big culprit. Thanks! I may get back to you on tube selection for the sound I'm looking for.
  7. Myles, Really appreciate all of the help you provide to the forum. Now it's my turn to pick your brain. I have a Musicman RP112 that has never (to my knowledge) been serviced. Is there anything that can be done with this thing? It sounds brittle to my ears and I would like to smooth it out a bit. I don't know if this is because of the SS preamp section or because of age coupled with a lack of maintenance. Thanks in advance!
