Dr. Ellwood Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Yep it's time! any suggestions guys? I don't care how much they cost SO no need to talk about the money part..just what you would replace them with. Thanks http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Bluesape Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I've become a devotee of Sperzels and other locking tuners, but PRS locking tuners may look more original. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Hardtail Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Which Les Paul are you talking about? Your Custom? Are the original ones Grovers?
Dr. Ellwood Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 No it's the Deluxe the red one, it used to have the original pearloid ones then the mini shallers and now it needs another set, four are fine and two are NOT fine! so shes gonna get new ones. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Guitarzan Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Sperzels. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
Dr. Ellwood Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 I want these to completely cover the impress marks from the original tuners. So the foot print has to be big enough. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Virtual Jim Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Another vote for Sperzels. Here's how they look on an epiphone: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f77/jmsam81/Leslie_750.jpg
Caevan O'Shite Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 If I was gonna put a new set of tuners on either of my Les Pauls, I'd go with the newer locking ones from Grover, with an 18:01 ratio. An alternative to the "keystone"-button Kluson stylees that is also a classic look often seen on a Les Paul. Bluesape Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Hmmmmmmmm......didn't know Grover made locking tuners....they'd look right on a Paul. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Kramer Ferrington III. Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Gibson might make some nice guitars, but I've never seen anything quite as as yeechy as "pearloid". It's a pretty good attempt at reproducing the colour of glow-in-the-dark snot. I've always been partial to Schallers, but it's probably because the first time I bought new tuners they were Schallers and it's a brand loyalty thing. Bloody good machine heads though.
