Clear Channel Communications announces it will end ties with paying promoters

Recommended Posts

Could this be the beginning of real radio? I doubt it. They're saying they don't want to be accused of any pay-for-play type dealings. Well isn't that exactly what they've been doing? They'll just develop another more intimate yet "safe" relationship to have with the big labels. And radio will continue to suck. JMHO

I bet what they mean is that no non-cc promotors/artists will be able to rent their venues. FYI: Through the aquisition of SFX, Clear Channel aquired 30 top-class venues in Europe and northern Europes #1 group of booking agencies/promotors (EMA/Telstar, Luger, Motor, dkbMotor, Eventum, GEC, Welldone). Clear Channel has also invested heavily in billboard advertizing companies here in the last years. I will not be the least surprised when some of the radio networks becomes CC'd. And as if that is not bad enough, check out Modern Times Group . They cover even more bases than Clear Channel. MTG even have the balls to screw composers royally by refuse paying collective societies what they by law have right to collect, this shameful battle has been going on for many years. This is not funny anymore. /Mats

What do we want? Procrastination!

When do we want it? Later!
