  1. I am pretty sure, as an insider, that this was a very sensitive point they never considered. M-AUDIO was "the official" Consumer/Pro-sumer hardware for Pro Tools. Then you could aspire to a 003 or MBox 3 Pro. Then to HD.
  2. Since the last time I posted in this forum: * Yamaha CP70B * Yamaha DX7 IID * Roland V-Synth 2.0 * Roland VP-550 * Roland JD800 * Dave Smith Instruments REV 2 * Oberheim / Viscount OB12 * Oberheim Matrix 6 * Korg King Korg * Ensoniq ZR76 OH! And that gorgeous microphone I have with me in my Avatar pic
  3. AVID started their slow, painful death after they sold M-AUDIO and started to lose thousands of small home-studio users who were attracted into Pro Tools because it was "the standard" you could use with dozens of interfaces and keyboard controllers made by the same company, offering indeed an "echosystem" which also included studio monitors. Small studio owners were so proud they had "the standard" in their studios -even without an HD system-. And people like me was selling for the first time, massive amounts of software in Latin America. ... then, they sold M-Audio... no more options of small interfaces to get some money from... no keyboards... no control surfaces... no keyboards... Heck, even for live sound and hi-end studios, they only have now TWO mixers. One for live, one for studio. ... so, rising the prices seemed to be a good idea... or not? It is a great idea... for their competitors. LOL.
  4. ¡Hola! Well... 20 years ago I was a 100% a PC Guy, mostly because I didn't have money for a Mac. And then, reality is that even the most powerful laptop Mac, 20 years ago, was perhaps as powerful as a good PC desktop adapted for stage use. So, it made no sense to spend in a Mac if truly a PC could do the same, cheaper. 20 years later I am a full 100% Mac guy. Love it. Fan boy. iPhone. iPad. AirPods. MacBook Pro. iMac. Apple Watch. I could not be happier. Why? 2012 was a significant year for me: I got my first quad-core, 500 GB HD, 16GB Ram i7 MacBook Pro. It was WAY more powerful than my iMac. And that any PC I ever had. Expensive, you bet. But it was a monster machine. In 2014 I upgraded it to the SSD model, same specs. Used in a continental tour with a band for my synths and have used it for all of my tours of clinics with presonus, is my studio's main machine, too. 5 Years old and still kicking butt. I am sure I couldn't find a PC who could ever make me as happy as this machine. The Mexican is back.
  5. Oh... Hai Guyz! I've been here for many years, but kinda absent the last couple of them. Still, I love MusicPlayer forums! About me, as a full disclaimer: I am a Keyboardist, music producer and MD for hire, and the lead singer for my band, WoM. And yet my "day gig" is as M-Audio's Tech support / product specialist for Latin America. Here is a -bad- video of my work as a keyboardist for hire, with Mexican band MOENIA: - I am the keyboardist to the left of the stage -crowd's view-. If you fast forward to minute 8:15, they introduce me to the crowd - [video:youtube] And here, is the latest video of my own band: [video:youtube]
  6. I'm afraid to ask... so you never tried SF's ACID? or are just happy to have discovered SoundTrack? I enjoyed a lot the way you handled the loops to make them sound as a solo. Nice trick ! ... ever tried LIVE?
  7. As I understand it, Soundtrack was written by the same person who wrote Acid for Sonic Foundry. dB Right !
  8. It's only loops, dave? NO instruments? The Clav and trumpet loops are terrific, large files, sounds like a solo... Sounds great !
  9. How many hands does your bassist have? Man, that's playing ! I'm nothing without my sequencer... yes, sorry. I wish I could have any funk chops... but you do Why on VHS??
  10. Thanks Dano ! Since I'm the guy in charge of the demos for Latin America of Live and Reason I really pursued on doing an entire tune using only those resources. So, all the music came from REASON and all the vocals FX were from Live 2.0. No extra VST plug ins. Just the built in Chorus, Ping Pong Delay and Reverb together with the Vinyl distortion, seriously automated. Yes, that's me singing (or trying to ) What about the harmonys? Just a couple of choruses... Thanks again.
  11. Is this Thread still alive? I would like to share with you all the newest versions of my tunes, some of them are new... and this one which is the newest one: "Dime lo que harás..." (Tell me What you\'re gonna do) This one was made entirely in REASON 2.0 for the music and LIVE 2.0 for the vocal recording. Check all the other tunes at: http://trax.iuma.com Thanks in advance for your time and comments...
  12. These freaking double posts... sorry This message has been edited by GusTraX on 08-05-2001 at 01:20 AM
  13. Hi ! Just in case you're interested on listening this. I am currently producing a Mexican Dance Artist named "El Chan". His style is Latin/Dance music. You can try the first DEMO release at: http://trax.iuma.com ... just at the right of the main picture. The song is called "EL CHAKA CHAKA" (Shake-Shake). A mmtss-mmtss-mmtss dance song with a latin taste. For easy listeners only. All of the other tunes (with the exception of "The B Side Wins Again REMIX" from PUBLIC ENEMY for the www.slamjamz.com project) are of my band, TRAX. Thanks in advance to the possible visitors. ------------------ Gustavo G Lozada Moderador de: MusicPlayer.com/NuestroForo "La voz en Español en Música y Tecnología" GusTraX @yahoo.com

  16. Dan, Thanks so much for your words. I don't have direct distribution of my CD in the US so I will be honored on giving a copy of it to you as a gift, just like I have been doing to my fellows outside of Mexico. Just e-mail me your address so I can UPS one copy right tomorrow. I can Include a letter allowing you legally to copy it, and a MS WORD file with the cover so you can print copies for your friends. If your friends are top A&R executives, man, would be a plus http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Actually, Sir, we do POP http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif Hey, I have just listened "RAIN DANCE". Tell me what did you use for it... sounds amazing!! I did not know you liked to use electronics in your tunes. Surprises... GusTraX
  17. Well, I started listening to some of our new friends. I was surprised about the quality of all of them ! I'm glad I can talk here to such great musicians from all over the world. I don't care here are not any "pro´s" if "pro" means having a formal music major and doing a living exclusively from music. Here are some comments, starting with Mr. Bryce: Dave Bryce: I wish I could sound (yes, I'm talking about the Mix of "Evil Genius") someday like you. Such a great stereo experience. I read some lines above to someone asking for a rundown on how you did it... try it. The other songs were great too, but this one is excellent. StevieB: "Black Holes are Black" made me wish to enroll NASA. Great song. Well, I'm a fan now http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif DanSouth: Man, you're a musician ! (that's a compliment) That Concerto is something I wish I could hear more frequently from other musicians. Bravo. DJ Rezolution: Good dance music. It's a bad thing Dave did not like those "cliche" sounds. Perhaps being a little more involved in sound design could help you a little to make your own style, but that's about production. Talking about music, I enjoyed it a lot. That's it by the moment. Can some of you pay a visit to my site and tell me your comments? http://www.mp3.com/trax_mx We are a commercial Electronic Pop band. I make all of the music and production. Try "Wake Up" and "Llevame". Those are the best (or perhaps are not as bad as the rest) tunes, according to some feedback from our fans (yes, we do have fans around the globe... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ) By the way, Dave, Thanks a lot for the nice comments you sent me about them. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif GusTraX@yahoo.com
  18. Hello ! Well... I am Gustavo G Lozada. Mexican, 29 years old. Capricorn. Industrial Engineer with a Master Degree in Businees Administration. I do currently work in the (supposed to be) the number one Denim Manufacturing company in Mexico, as the Corporate Materials Manager... this is where I get my income to make a living. About music... I have played keyboards since I was 6. I started playing in (cover) bands in 1986... until 1992 when I created my own electronic Pop band, TraX (hey, the name was pretty fine for Mexico). We started playing covers and did so from 1992 to 1997. Then we were forced to do a living in the real world... but music is our life. My band folks are living in different cities than mine, but we decided it was finally time to compose our own material and after that, try to get a record label to distribute our music. I did record and produced all of our material at home, using eveything I learned by reading Keyboard Mag. (Well, I had a little extra of help by attending some classes at the MI's KIT in Hollywood) http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I have worked with some fine mexican producers, basically as their "trainee" to learn a bit about the market. We have not reached yet our goal as a band, but our team is working hard. We do play some live gigs just for promotional purposes and to get ready just in case the big day comes... Check out our web sites for more information and sample MP3's: Spanish: http://trax.iuma.com English: http://www.mp3.com/trax_mx Europe: http://go.to/trax_online It has been a pleasure to read you all. 19. Hi Check these ones from a Mexican Electronic Pop band (mine, of course): http://trax.iuma.com (in spanish) http://www.mp3.com/trax_mx (in English) This music was made entirely with keyboards computers and some guitars and is 100% oriented to the mexican pop tastes. I can tell I learned everything I used to do my demo's by reading keyboard magazine... then tell me what do you think about it... have some mercy, please. If you want to e-mail me, do it at: gustrax@yahoo.com This message has been edited by GusTraX on 03-22-2001 at 03:13 PM
