  1. Hmm... admittedly I fit a particular musical profile. On one hand I complain about repetitiveness and on the other I want well established conventional musical elements. What can I say? I recognize and appreciate the efforts that drive non-conventional musical forms. Do I like it, I mean really like it? Not so much. But life is short and perhaps to my detriment I have a very narrow focus - actually always have. On the other hand randomizers are probably my favorite modules and the ones I spend the most time on. Random sounds while playing intentional notes...oh yeah! Random notes...not so much. The NerdSeq can do 64 steps per pattern and supports pattern chaining, I believe. Pyramid makes a couple of capable sequencers - Hermod (Eurorack module) and Pyramid (standalone). Pyramid can do up to 384 bars a track. Pretty much what I suspected. Not only does it take the right sequencers; it's a lot of work to craft those sequences with transitions found in conventional music. At which point you may be better off playing those notes. Sequencers or arpeggiators that you can transpose on the fly are fun. But when you're limited to certain modalities...well I really don't want the sequencer dictating what the underlying music has to be. Face it Jerry, I'm hopeless.
  2. Sounds very nice with interesting sounds and textures throughout. Tbh (and this is just my own personal likes) I prefer root note progressions along with melody. While I hear a few key changes the repetitive nature of the sequenced foundation with interesting changes on top leaves me wanting the "other half". I'm not sure why modular compositions are often limited to so few changes of this nature. Is there a limit with the transposition capability of the sequencer or simply a musical style that modular use seems to gravitate towards? If the former I feel it's the machine dictating the music to a larger degree than I care for. Sorry if that appears blunt - its really not aimed at you specifically and again I did find your composition enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.
  3. I don't recall this being posted. I'm splurging for the TW2600.
  4. I could state the same about heavy metal worshippers. No matter, there are forum rules prohibiting religious discussion.
  5. Now this I like as well (forgot about this song). However getting the chorus to a point of realization presents some additional challenges.
  6. I don"t get it. Which one is the guitar?
  7. Sarcasm/ smart-ass mode on hold... It"s a neat little synth for the right person. Based on your post above I don"t think you"re that person. I don"t mean that with any elite exclusive kind of attitude. While I agree its a lot of bang for the buck I think for most conventional keyboardist this synth will be more trouble to use effectively than you want, quickly forgotten about in your day-day once the novelty wears off and relegated to the KC Classifieds soon after . On the other hand if you"re of the mindset it"s only $300, up for something a bit different and you can sell it if Markyboard turns out to be right (for once) ....go for it.
  8. Once again thank you Joe and Sam. I"m making a sizable donation to the Human Fund on your behalf.
  9. I've been trying to learn this song for the last month or so. I've sought advice from some of the highest regarded experts but still no go. Each day I wake up thinking I've made a break through only to realize it's still not sinking in. I don't think anyone here will tell me something I haven't heard many times already. I just wanted to express my frustration.
  10. bet he's using a Ventilator. You might me thinking of this guy:
  11. Perhaps one day someone will invent a communication protocol whereby you can play the internal sounds of one synth with the keys of another. A man can dream.
  12. So that thing your holding and waving your hand across...that"s a guitar? Huh...interesting. Btw nicely done Kuru - thanks for sharing
  13. I"m in. Not going anywhere so I"m good with anytime.
  14. I spent a fair amount of time playing with one at a couple of NAMM shows. It really is a beautiful synth both sound and control wise. Also the build quality is phenomenal. For folks not so enamored with the past but wanting modern analog this is an amazing synth. Remember this came out before the poly-analog revival got going and still holds it own, being that it is its own. In addition to the 20,000+ obvious reasons I was also turned off or at least suspicious of the internal fans despite claims they are super quiet. That and no access to schematics and concern about repair/parts. I did enjoy talking to Stefan Schmidt at the time and getting his insights. This always makes certain synths all the more special to me. As to tool vs toy? I"ve never been able to figure that one out with any worthwhile synth.
  15. In that case who ever buys it for me can thank me later.
  16. ...What to get me for Christmas... http://www.schmidt-synthesizer.com/en/images/gallery/schmidt_frontal_03.jpg Or maybe you already have? New Batch
  17. Update to my OP: After 3 months of broken promises I gave up on Redco doing a custom mod for me. I did end up purchasing the stock mult box and modding it myself. Not too bad actually. They do use some heavy gauge metal and I wasn't sure about drilling using what I have available, but fortunately it turned out OK. The kicker is that during this 3 months I've sent my Lynx Aurora 16 converter in for repair twice and it's about to go again as it died on me for a 3rd time last week. This mult box has therefore been low priority since without the Aurora it's kind of useless for recording/playback of the Eventide Eclipse. Or so I thought until I realized the other day that I could use my Eventide Eclipse in bypass mode as a stereo channel converter. Duh! Works and sounds great and I'm using it to play my soft synths which I couldn't otherwise do. Once again..Duh!
  18. Sorry David. Now that you mention it I do see the resemblance.
  19. Pfttt. If it"s anything like the Crown the Prime Minister won"t care.
  20. If there's any doubt just how awful that was... I liked it.
  21. Grey has the perfect woman for you right here in the US. She was a bit frigid at first but he say's she's since warmed up.
  22. What is snow??? And isn't it "snowperson"?
  23. "Sokath, his eyes uncovered" Thanks Manny. As I indicated this never occurred to me until I jealously watched the guy in the video whipping around between operator sliders and knobs. I never knew this independent operator level affect is unique or even existed on the SY77/99. IMO this is not some subtle feature. It really does stretch the use of the operators in a practical sense, something I wouldn't want to give up. I've thought about mapping FM8 to my Akai controller, just way too many parameters largely due to this capability. But I sure do like that real time control on the Opsix.
