  1. Well, I just ordered mine. Many thanks to Dave Weiser, to everyone here for their comments, and to Massachusetts for a sales tax-free weekend :-) Here's hoping I love mine as much as I did my loaner.

no one can accuse you of not doing your due diligence! congrats! :thu:

  2. People complain when products are pre-announced, and people complain when they're not. ("If I knew that was coming, I would have waited.")

    we gotta complain about somethin.....

    i want one NOW!

theyll probably announce something else i want before this one ships to dealers....

  3. One thing that is slightly bewildering is the size of the edge bezels. If they want to cut down on width, it strikes me as that would be one of the first places to shave off. Yamaha tends to have fairly wide bezels. They could fit at least 2-3 more keys on each side with that width.

the hips are a little wide....

might fit one more key a side. :)

i did notice that as well!

same thickness as the P125 88 key, but more noticeable on the P121 73 key.

i thought they could do a little better than 22 lbs....

  4. Dexibell's been in my sights since introduction. They're nowhere to be seen around these parts, but I'd love to get my hands on a S1.

I'd manufacture a removable extension off the back, and it could make a great lower manual. The extension could house cords, pedals etc, then act as an attachable rear support for let's say, a Mojo61.

Voila: lower manual, weighted 68 keys (not too wide) easy to edit interface, on the go from the side panel, state-of-the-art piano, downloadable extra sounds.

Anyone looking for an SL88 Studio and a Spacestation?

    s1 action is a fatar tp8piano.

no one that has played and posted about it has described it as weighted.

semi weighted at best....and last post i saw, a female said it didnt even feel that.

  5. Would anyone have any idea what amplification or monitor the Dexibell was being played through during the promotional videos?

dexibell is affiliated with proel spa.

last two vids were done in the proel theatre.

so i think we can at least narrow it down to a proel brand product. ;)

  6. I just demo'd a Grandstage side-by-side with a Dexibell Vivo S7, on headphones. For piano work, the Vivo simply runs circles around the Grandstage.

    wow! kudos to the dexibell!

    The GS is undeniably prettier

that would hold true for pretty much any keyboard vs. the dexibell s7 ;)

The Vivo has a more nuanced, detail, rich and alive piano tone, and there is a much faster, dynamic and expressive finger-to-ear connection than on the GS, which always felt like...sort of like playing piano with your fingers in thick yogurt or cottage cheese. And, now that I think about it, with your ears too.

I suppose the GS is a great backline choice if you ain't got nothin' else. But there are a lot of great options out there, and when you A/B them in the same room w headphones the differences are pretty substantial.

nice to hear newcomer dexibell is making strides.

little bit surprised to see the s7 preferred to the grandstage.

thanks for the reviews tim and dave!

  7.

i have a tough enough time dealing with the heat and humidity, running this time of the year . . . stay away from the hills as much as possible.

cant imagine going up a mountain trail.

nice to hear im not the only one getting exhausted to the extent of being useless the remainder of the day. ;)

good to hear you are making progress!

  8. Next goal is to run a mile without stopping. It's beyond humbling to see how much I've lost in the 9 months.

    i can imagine!

just two days off in a row, makes my 3 miles a day significantly more difficult.

but thats just age taking its toll . . .

i have to run to maintain my sanity!
