I remember decades ago playing a place on stage behind the bar. The wiring must of had ground problem. Every time the cash register was used, sound came out of my leslie.

B3. But not the weight. Early Mojo Classic buyer and very happy with it.

RIP. Was it Leonard Feather who said he didn't play real jazz?
BS.

For myself, while Ipad and laptops offer a lot, in the back of my mind I think a thief can run off with it depending on the gig setup.
I use an Ipad to read charts on a solo gig, but I don't leave it there alone taking a break.
Unusual setups like one I did recently with a big band, the leader wanted me to set up basically in front of a doorway leading to a food truck!
So he wanted me to deal with wind blowing charts off a stand and people inches away of my board going in and out of the joint.
Wasn't about to do it, so I moved next to door out of the way and was better. But during break drinkers were right next to my board since no stage.
I would not like having an Ipad there.
So my two cents, theft and drunk people.

Well I dreamed of something like this when I backpacked a lot in my younger days. This gives me drive to get my boots fixed and a new backpack at 67. Hell Yeah!

Whoever choose the music to back the spot to honor those who past last year was a great fit.
Lenny Kravitz singing 'Calling All Angels' very simple but very touching.

I don't think it's all talent. He seems to be willing to do the work, which to me is lacking in a lot of youth these days.
I have one student who likes and wants to play jazz, but too lazy to play basic chords in all inversions and keys.
Work with scales/modes in the key signatures, develop the ear and learn harmony.
Frustrating. But nice path this kid is playing on.

I go to a yearly local piano competiton to listen. Some 9 yr olds are fantastic playing hard stuff. Hand size doesn't matter, they hit the notes. Chopin, Bach...

If it matters. A Valentine was posted on her FB account. The 'other' seemed to be Klaus.
I think she is very smart and one of the best. She has fun with the clothes. I wonder if she will ever settle down for a family.

Great analysis. One thing not mentioned I wonder. Should the bass player know about the sub changes before hand especially 1/2 steps?

Homebrewed a Chimay clone that came out nicely at 10%.

It's still a piano. If in a decent state, fine for beginners or other situations.

Wrote some classics. Remembering his quote saying why he wrote the type of music he did " I like drinking orange juice in the morning".
The Look of Love such nice feeling song.
This also.

Traynor K4 had a button to run solid state or thru a tube.

This was on the radio during the Grammies. Worth a listen especially the classical piano piece he wrote. Brian Marsala trio and Medeski group.

Try playing #1 in all keys. Same fingering.

The past year I wasn't in the mood to play any Christmas songs after hearing some used it seemed every month from summer in some commercial by a company or two.
One thing I always want to do but don't get to is learn a good solo version of Nutcracker suite if a chance holiday gig comes up. It can be tricky though.

As Philly as a cheese wit. He did a lot of back to back same songs by different artists which was pretty neat.
Not sure I'd want to be stranded on an island with him, but he's gonna be missed.
Who's gonna play the Twist now that Dick Clark and him are both gone?

I expected to have cataract surgery last summer. Glasses were going out of focus faster than normal. So I needed a new script an was seen by a different doctor where I go and he said I need the surgery. Had to wait a month for appt with the surgeon who was my regular eye doctor and he said no, just update script. After 7 months I'm getting vertigo and vision is changed again needing another exam. He said surgery carries risk but this is a pain as my glasses replacement cost adds up.
Don't think I'll make it to next scheduled exam in June. Getting old sucks. Dealing with healing shoulder surgery I just had. Good luck.

Strictly speaking, one note has intervals in overtones. Chordwise I like altered dominants.
Hiromi Tiny Desk Concert

For some reason watching Hiromi brought back a memory of teaching a beginning teenage girl piano. I was amazed at when she pushed one note down on the acoustic piano (which was in tune). She reacted as though she was getting a bad electric shock. She was hyper sensitive to the string vibrations almost to the point of not being able to play. Hiromi is the total opposite. Highly talented and I'm sure kids love watching and listening to her perform. I know I do, but my kids days are long gone.
