  1. One of the handiest non-musical items I ever purchased....
  2. Studiologic Numa Compact2x: Not waterfall keys, but a nice action nonetheless and with mappable drawbars.
  3. Title pretty much says it all. I've not had the chance to install yet.
  4. If you spend some time with the PianoTeq velocity curve setup, you will see how nuanced you can get. What instruments are you using in Pianoteq? I have the YC5, SW Model D and Electric Pianos. I get pretty good results using the stock Moderately Slow curve, but I'd be curious to see what you're using as a comparison.
  5. David, Thanks for the reply! Kind of disappointing, but I'll see if I can't make it work. When I look at the "Music Data List" document, I see where you get the MSB 3 LSB 0 PC 1 for the Grand Piano, but the JS Organ it lists as MSB 32 LSB 17 and PC 1. Is the documentation incorrect compared to the actual implementation, hence the recommendation of the MIDI monitor?
  6. I'm currently giving the PX-S3000 a test drive. Love the feel and design of this board, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of documentation out there regarding the midi implementation on it. For anyone that has this board, have you figured out how to select the User Registrations via MIDI? If so how, or could you direct me toward any documentation that explains this? Thanks, Derek
  7. Had it for a week and a half and sent it back. Loved the sound and the functionality, but the keybed had this weird "bounce" after pressing the a key that I just couldn't get used to.
  8. I just purchased the V Collection 7 for $200USD. Just thought I would share for anyone that was on the fence about upgrading, but was balking at the cost.
  9. Cool. I need all the help I can get. Thanks all for the informed opinions!
  10. Fairly new to the keyboard game and just beginning to try playing in an actual group setting. I was invited to rehearse with a group. First song went ok. The second was Kool & The Gang's "Celebration" after we concluded the song, the bassist tells me to lay off the left-hand. I understood his point as during the verses as we were both playing the same rhythms during the choruses. We then start on O'Jay's "Love Train". Heeding the bassist's request, I stick to single sustained notes in the octave below middle C. 15 seconds into it, he waves a halt, and tells me again to lay off the left-hand. So I finish out the evening playing only right hand parts. My question is, is this typical in group settings? What I was playing was not overly busy or particularly loud. Do you all typically stick to the upper octaves when working with groups/arranging parts? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Derek
  11. I have the Juno DS88 and the Numa Compact 2x. I personally would use the Juno sounds over anything that comes standard on the Numa. I use the Numa solely as a controller as I find the action very playable and map the drawbars to the various plug-in parameters.
  12. Hypothetical Question.... A lot of midi controllers only have 8 or fewer faders. When using these controllers with any of the software B3 emulators what would your preference be for mapping the sliders to the drawbars? Map multiple drawbars to a single fader, if so what groupings? Split the faders between upper and lower drawbars, again probably grouping multiple draws to a single control? Skip a particular drawbar(s)? Use a non-fader control for one or more of the missing drawbars? Just curious. Derek
  13. That seems to check out with the response from my inquiry to Studiologic. They state 1GB sample memory. Half of that is taken by the presets, while the other half is accessible to the user.
  14. New user manual, firmware update and new software manager posted!! Haven't had the chance to try any of these however. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Updates here!! https://studiologic-music.com/products/numa_compact2x/#downloads
  15. For what it's worth here is a response from Studiologic regarding the sample memory issue...
  16. I use a VESA mount on a microphone stand. VESA Mount 3/8 to 5/8 adapter Using it to hold a 15" ASUS touch screen monitor
  17. But then turned around and sold it to stave off her own bankruptcy. GregC still has a chance.....
  18. As far as I can figure out, that's it. Yes, it can be used as an Audio Interface, but only outbound signals. Drawbars are adequate. Not a lot of "finesse". More like Cold/Warm/Hot.
  19. And right under that it says: "Specifications are subject to change without notice." The whole roll-out/support of this product feels like a giant "KickStarter" campaign.
  20. https://support.casio.com/en/manual/manualresult.php?cid=008021002&keyword= Thanks.
  21. Not certain if this is off topic or not. The manuals don't appear to be on the Casio website yet. The product page reports that the units can be powered by batteries. Can they run on USB power as well?
  22. Two homes in Italy? Don't you think that's overdoing it? you are right, it is excessive. The wife prefers Florence and I prefer Amalfi. So the compromise is both. Imaginary life can be tough. This is not my imaginary house... This is not my imaginary wife...
  23. djdisbro, I've considered getting a NC2x, but there have been alot of question marks, your post is helpful. However, for the task of controlling other keyboards/modules, most of your minuses are addressing its shortcomings as a keyboard with sounds in its own right. To have 9 faders mappable to MIDI controls is not bad, certainly enough for many of us. As far as WASAPI, what issues are you having? For those of us that love having an audio interface that is built into the keyboard, this is of great interest. Thanks I agree with you in that having 9 drawbars is great, but depending on your needs buttons to increment/decrement presets, toggle effects on/off, etc. might be desired. As far as ASIO vs. WASAPI a lot of that will be determined by what your computer/software you are running. Historically ASIO was the more stable up until more recent versions of Windows 10.
