  1. So funny!!! When I saw the announcement I was just thinking " I know one guy who might think twice about buying his Prophet X planned for a while..."
  2. That's pretty much where I'm at, other than the needing more care part, since I am selling off newer things. If it can kinda sorta replace a few other boards for my needs, it is essentially a trade, maybe with a small cash outlay. I'm trying not to sell anything vintage, rare, difficult to replace, or fundamental to my existence. On the other hand, I spent a couple of hours playing my OB-6 through an Eventide H9 box last night, and I'd be reluctant to part with that combo anytime soon. All this obsession from someone who is primarily a piano/organ player. Agreed on oldies if they work well, you have a sort of synth history with them.... And agreed too, I don't have an OB6 (yet....the module is really cheap compared to the Moog One...) but it's after my P08 and I love how they glue together....
  3. Quote: "For the time being, I guess it´s a "chipsynth" like Memorymoog, now using the re-issues of CEM 3340, 3360 and 3310" Why do you say that? You don't think it's an all discrete synth? The Memory Moog was a "chip synth" as well? Sorry for asking, I started to be into "synths" with the Prophet 5 but was only able to buy a Yamaha CS15....
  4. I was just thinking that my Propeht 12 I got for 2700 CAN$ was a steal...
  5. Funny you didn't put the 88 keys on the lower tear?? Any reasons for that
  6. Ok good to know for the SR -16, I had read that it was a PITA to program....How do you like he sound, are the drums samples any good?
  7. You wil love it, I found the first model, normal one, not impact, two months ago at 300$ USD used/like new in a store and I'planning to buy this one, they will complement very well each other ....I hadn't used any Drumbox for 20 years and I learnt how to,use the sequencer very fats, great product....You know that on top of that, it's a French company....So, a bonus for me....
  8. I don't have issue with noise for power yet but haven't recorded a lot yet but was thinking to buy one of this stuff, is expensive? Did it solved immediately all your problems?
  9. It was really thinking to buy one, especially with the update they did that gives you patch management with the Software....Could you tell me a bit more, why you bought it? To do what, what do you like about it?
  10. You know what, I think I van never been able to send midi (or is it receive program change??, cannot remember....) with my AX Synth.... ok it might be me but I didn't find changing midi channel very easy etc....So, I'm using it mainly with the inboard sounds, just soloing and the synths/Guitarish sounds are quite good....enough to have the girls going crazy so, I'm happy....
  11. When I had the previous Roland Ax Synth, I used my guitar wireless. Worked great d It still on my "to buy" list, two cables connected to it don't work...But 500$ for a guitar wireless kit is expensive....Since I bought my AX for 700$.... Is Sound ok with the mono out only with the guitar wireless connection?
  12. Last week, a Mackie Mix8 for our drummer for him to mix all the different click I sent to him, whether they come from Ipad, Drumbox, Proteus and his Aux Return from the main mixer....He has an IEM, well, just the Ear Plug. 3 weeks ago, a DRUMBRUTE Arturia. Last months: Redoing all the crappy cables for the Guitar pedalboard. Two months ago, a TC Corona Chorus SCF special edition back, TC Mimik Doubler and a TC Bass Compressor. 3 months ago, a Radial Beat Bug 48V to power my Radial JV48 when I plug it into an Aux return without of course Phantom power. 6 months ago, Nord Gig bag for my Stage 2, 12 months ago. prophet 12. Before that I had already latex it one/two years ago...
  13. I solved this issue in having always a truck to load my stands unfolded....All cables, connections and so on are attached to it...I use the Apex/Yorkville platform stand with two extra tiers that are super close to each other, I play seated too...and I put them like that in the truck, keys gig bags under the legs... I don't own a truck but a lot of friends have here in Canada, my son has one, my daughter's boyfriend etc....So, count on friends instead of trying to find the best foldable stand, for me the best one is the one you never fold...
  14. Well, I think i have replied to,this one few months ago but today I bought a TC electronic Spectra Comp to go on my Bass Player pedalboard (well, mine in fact), last month it was the TC Phaser Helix to go on the guitar pedalboard, plus the Drumbrute. The month before was the TC Corona Chorus black special edition to go on the pedalboard because I wanted the original SCF stereo chorus back to me for my keys. So, for keys, nothing special, just the ARTURIA Drunbrute for me finally.... Oh, I had forgotten a BedBugs Radial 48V phantom power to use the radial J48 (active DI) on a spare return input of the Mackie....In order not to use a channel for just two songs with an electro acoustic guitar... Next puschase will be two IEM for my singers, SE215 or AM Pro 10 Westone.... And then finally I hope the Vent 2 for my C2....
  15. I was not able to find the product on the Moog website???
  16. Pfuuuf, just coming from the other post on The DSI forum and realized that the 4000$ price tag is....in USD....which will be around 5200 in CAN$....Well they might advertise it at 4990 but still....Ouch...I was so excited by this new synth that my brain was not doing the conversion....
  17. If you are bored why are you in this thread? +1, exactly!! Mojo Guy has already spent so many times in trying to convince us that it's "just a romper", let us check it and make our own opinion, I think this thread is great, besides the Prophet X features, I've just realized what is the difference before loading into RAM and streaming is....Well, I knew it but I've never ever asked myself what is under the hood of my Stage 2 or Prophet, I switch, the sound is here, great....But having that kind of question to evaluate how a new product could work or being innovative is important, thanks to Anotherscoot and burning bush... And no, Dave never said he has been asked to do a Rompler, just being asked to process samples into analog filters and modulations which is exactly what it does....And you said "there are not synthesist?" Who are you to define what a sunthesist is? A synthesist is more define by what he does with sound/synths than by what tools he uses to do it so, saying that people who use the P12 are more synthesists than those who are interested in this new synths is stupid....Yes, just let us, "poor non synthesists" appreciate what we could do with this "Non synthesizer/Pure rompler" what we could do and just go present us what you like ....No need to be on this thread for so long to reiterate again your negative opinion....
  18. When Korg Released their Odyssey, I was close to but one but the mini keys and no memories were a dal broker for me. But when they released the full size one, it was the price , 1500$ was too much, so may be the Mdule at 650 USD (800 Can$ for me...) but I like so much the Aesthetic of the Origina that if the Berhinger comes at that price, I think I will buy one.... But we don't know the price yet, maybe even them they are not sur how to positioning it in the market, the build quality seems awesome plus Klark Tecknic effects and a lot of ads on? Yes, I agree, DSI who has stared with a lot of Mono cheap synths is now alone on the high end market for polysynth with an offering that couldn't be match at that time...
  19. Well, imagine your new set up: Kawai MP11 SE plus Stage 3 compact on Top plus Propeht X on top and OB6 module on the side....I could even finish my L shape configuration to make an U one....Like in the old days of Genesis and Pink Floyd....
  20. I'm a big fan of DSI Synths, there is one for each taste, either it's pure analog "simplicity" with the P06 or OB6, crazy sound design like the P12 or super bang for the Bucks like the P08 or Rev2... I have the P12 and the P08+Tetra linked, I'm sure in the future I will have the OB6 module, for this one, we will just have to wait to test it but I'm sure there will be a lot of people who will love this synth knowing the quality of Dave Synth anyway... And for guys like me who are trying NOT to have a computer love, the 150gb or samples might be a dream comes true.
  21. For the 50 gigs per year for a song, yes of course, I was just trying to put myself in the least benefit situation when you play it just one time to see the value of buying versus free download...But yes, I hope it doesn't happen too much for you the last minute request....I set up myself with a Ikne week max, if my BL ask for a song to learn one week, even two weeks before the gig, I declined, I don't play it, k owing that usually, there is no keys in the songs, it's a pure hard rock one and that he ask me to fill way more stuff like crazy driven guitar songs with a lot of distortion and a sand ruthmic guitar just because he wants a back up for his solo....And when I ask a favor in return in playing a song that I like, I'm told that 80's/90's "synths song suck"....But I understand your point, knowing that I have learnt 50 songs in one year and half for ditching them after a while with some not being even played at a gig (well, on the setlist but last minute cancelled...), I would have made the same.... Note that on some signs where I was in your position, where I downloaded first the song to see how it goes, what I could do with it and so on, so, download before versus buying, I finally like the song quite much and dcided to buy it, also because it was so easier to have it directly in my ITunes collection to attach it to setlist maker.... Well, as I said, now I don't have to do it, there is band members who are insisting on me to have the mo3 and as wi this second band I'm e BL, I agree and prepare all of it in Dropbox. But still buy the recording version just to be able to compare it to the live versions I have to download in most case because not being offered in ITunes.... Well, great thread anyway, thanks for having participated in it, it helps to keep in mind these big changes in music cumsuption that have been happening for the past 20 years...
  22. When I started to use Setlist maker for my synths, I was loading the songs I Had bought on ITunes into it. If I didn't have the music in my collection, even with some songs that the BL were asking me to learn, I was doing it. But I wanted to have also a file in my Dropbox with the MP3, the Stage 2 programs and the lyrics or any PDFs files that I could use. Most of the time, I buy the pdf from a website like "Sheet music plus". So, as Apple doesn't allow you very easily to transfer an ITunes file into a classic MP3, I was downloading the mo3 from YouTube. These days, I have switched to Bandhelper that doesn't allow you anymore to attach any songs from your iTunes library!! I even asked the developer how I could do it but the reply was " you cannot do it anymore" it's just mo3 now... So, I had to reload a huge bunch of songs from YouTube in MP3 just to get going with the new Apps... Which means that sometimes, even the people who develop Apps designed to promote music (Bandhelper or Aplle...) put you in the position that you even have to "not support anymore the industry". I don't do a difference between "ok if it's to learn it" or "not ok if it's just to listen to it". Maybe I'm on the old side but I still buy CD's, I still buy most of the music I play/listen via ITunes, I still have books with scores and so on... So, I would say I agree that systematically downloading music and being proud of not paying for it, or even thinking that because you made music for a living, it's ok to do so isn't the right thing to do for me....If you make music as a living you should help/promote paying for music, right? So, how not paying for music just because you will use it to make a living from it, for you, Will really promote music? You are making dollars on music and want to be paid for your gig but you don't accept to pay for music just because it's just to learn it? That doesn't make any sense....A song is 1$.29, you are paid 200$ to play 20 songs during a gig (ok, maybe more songs and less pay, it's just an easy way to calculate in my head...), so, you are making 10$ per song played.....Don't you think you could pay 1.29$ for it? Your margin is still good....even if you play 40 songs during a gig, you divide it by 2, well, 5$ per song versus 1.29$....You are paid 100$ for 40 songs, still 1,29$ for 2.50$ per song, time two the margin, like in some retail, not bad, right? Ok, if you are paid 50$ for 40 songs, you should really try to find a new job.... So, as a conclusion, yes, paying 1.29$ for a song that is going to bring you back an average of 5$ is kind of fair, so, just pay for it....
  23. Hi Guys, Thanks to the moderator to put my Thread here, I knew there would have been a place for introduction but couldn't find it.... Thanks for your welcoming, I think with the two forums and you guys on both, I'm pretty well covered....I will have to try to keep it on both, and to play, and to practice, and to remind the members of my two bands this and that....And to slide "discreetly" some new toys into the rig and.....,Pufff, life is tough.... Sincerely PS: A guy from Edmonton, good, I was "around" for 3 years, in Cold Lake, opening and running the new SPORTCHEK and then, went back to Winnipeg....5/6 Long and Mac Quade stores there, great, and not too many guys looking for B3 Clone because it is where I found my C2 with the Nord Bag free at a crazy price....Souvenirs, souvenirs.... Bye
  24. I've been following KC for a while, my profile told me that I joined it officially last July but I've been way more one Nord Forum since 2011, when I bought my Stage 2. Since I'm looking way more at KC for the past two months due to fellow members on Nord Forum Like Cphollis and Rusty Mike, I thought it was time to introduce myself before starting to reply to a lot of Threads on this forum. First of, there is so much very good infos and posts every day that it's a bit overwhelming but thanks to all of you for making this Forum one of the best... I understood that it was created years ago by the Keyboard Magazine guys, a magazine that I was a subscriber with almost since their first release in France.... Last thing, not very original music journey for me, starting classical Piano at the age of 6, adding Pop and Jazz when I Was 15, starting my first garage band at that age on an Hammond L100+Leslie 147, Crumar Multiman S and Yamaha Cs15, playing with a 10 pieces Bal/Party band for 3/4 years (20 concerts per years with 80 songs, 5/6 hours Playing) when I was in my 20's, switching to Jazz big band few years after, stopped music for 10 years when I was running my own business in France and restarted it with the Stage 2 in 2011 in Canada.... That's it, I did use the search to try to find if there was a place to introduce yourself but couldn't find it, if it's the wrong place for that, sorry for that. Sincerely
