Great point but competent players don't worry about that nonsense.
What nonsense? Working?
I should have said competent players don't stress gigs most can pick and choose the gigs that they feel comfortable doing. JMO I don't think most players worry about being at the back of a list.
When I first started playing I would worry about all that but now that I am older not so much. Hope I didn't offend you was not my intentions.

Thanks Dave very emotional strain but no regrets trying to get myself together is taking much longer than I expected.

Lost my Mother a few months ago trying to get things in order plus dealing with the pandemic has been a rough year for me.
I'm really sorry to hear that. Terrible thing, losing our parents. Stay strong and I hope you are finding encouragement from day to day as you move forward.
Thanks TIM for the kind words.

Jason you are right I have turned down several gigs just not worth my time for the money. Age is creeping up on all of us especially us old timers that been doing this for seems like forever.

I prefer playing synth leads with semi weighted keys but I grew up back in the day so that feels more natural for me but I do some synth leads on the K2 88 but it feels slow and awkward for me. Although I have
I used weighted keys for synth leads but If i have a choice SW KEYS always. I have never heard Jordan Rudess play a slow lead but not really a fan but great player

Played with a really good guitar player that spent many years in Nashville but like most move back home eventually and get into the music scene,
Have not seen my friend in 25 years at least doing some auditorium gigs and first thing he asked me do i like Nord pianos.
BTW I used to have a Nord but the keyboard action was terrible for me, I used the Roland FANTOM 7 for pianos and he was suprised that
the piano sounds were very nice but different. Mojo for organ and sounded great.
Only speaks in number system which I know but doing an auditorium show this weekend should be fun.
Have 2 guitar players and have not played with that since many years different but had to lay back
and you know let the guitars steal the show but I got a few leads but used to playing with 1 guitar player.

I"m hesitant between a Nautilus 88 and a Yamaha YC88 at the same price point.
I am careful with expensive keyboards. I am waiting for pro user reviews of Nautilus. Plus I have un-answered questions about SSD access.
You are spot on about SSD access and Nautilus will never replace Kronos imo.

I really like the action on the Fantom 7 good enough for playing piano or synth.
And I am sorta picky on piano action and the semi-weighted is pretty good.

Without knowing any details, I would guess that any "crime" that occurred here might be a misunderstanding at most. Just take your time and find out the shipping cost. If Reverb overcharged for shipping, they'll give it back. If not, you'll know better next time.
Agree someone who intends on committing a crime would not worry about 20 us dollars jmo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but OS upgrades are available to bring new functionality to the original Kronos? I agree that it's still "top dog workstation" despite its age.
Cheers, Mike.
The Kronos is still the best workstation imo just not playing Journey anymore is a blessing cause I did that in my younger days.

It"s due to the fact that the average age on here is 87 years old. Somethings gotta give, and if it"s not bladder functionality, it will be the failure to implement a feature akin to discovering the Holy Grail.
Poot!

For whatever it's worth - I wasn't trying to be cute or clever when I mentioned piano shell. I was dead serious (as OP had asked for "any other thoughts on the topic").
I don't own a shell, but I've played a few digitals in shells on gigs.
Audiences listen more than 75% with their eyes. When they see what to them looks like "a piano" - they reach the conclusion - "Man, that piano sounds great" - even if it's the cheapest sounding POS digital that the club could find. From their perspective - I'm a more authentic piano player when it's in a shell. It really becomes part of the overall experience. And the funny bonus is it feels a little more like playing a baby grand to me too - when I stick a scrap of set list or whatever on top of the "grand piano", and it's at the same height I expect as a piano player.
Anyway, not looking to beat a dead horse. But I've considered buying a small portable shell for my "piano only" gigs, but haven't found quite the right unit and then of course all our gigs got postponed or cancelled. But still sort of thinking about it. Back to the regularly programmed discussion.
Tim you are spot on people listen with there eyes mostly instead of ears good grief in my younger days I was in a band that was really talented but our show and stage presence was off the charts. Very successful band back in the 80's

If you decide to go all-in with a Kronos..... I usually launch all my sounds in SetList as Combi even if I am only going to use a single sound program. I like having all the effects and EQs etc.... implemented the same way using the same screens.
PS - I"m a live player. I ain"t got time to think.
Agree also a live player less thinking and more skilled playing is my plan.

Is the Spider Pro more flexible to adapt for both stand up and sit down heights than the 18810/20? I think I will only use this stand set at home and in sit down mode, but it's good to know what boxes it checks for stage performance use. If the Spider Pro is more flexible for more ways to use it that may influence a decision as well.[/quote
IMO if you are asking about a keyboard stand for a Fantom you are lucky that you can afford one obviously you are are not experienced in live situations. Not trying to be a sa but nothing like stating facts.

You are spot would love to have the Purgatory Creek RHODES AND WURLI'S available for the fantom that I have in my KronosI would buy today.
Thanks for the update info.

IMO I never like layered acoustic pianos it gives a weird sound that is not a natural piano sound but everyone has a different ear to what sounds good.

Good luck with the MODX it is a great sounding keyboard and I am sure you will be satisfied. The touchscreen is more responsive than the Kronos but the workflow is way different but you are a pro so it will be a minor adjustment.
Let us know how you like it Greg.

Nothing like changing horses in the middle of a race. Just kidding I feel you been there at one time I would take any gig for money but not at the moment for me so cool
that we can agree to disagree without being a SA.
