  1. Hey learjeff, Sorry if I came off defensive earlier. I can see you're the real McCoy. Having lived in Los Alamos since 1966, I created my own "rules for life". Which are. A) if you talk to twelve different physicists in a day, you'll be unintentionally belittled twelve times that day. B) if you talk to twelve engineers in a day you'll be intentionally belittled 12 times that day C) if you talk to 12 technicians in a day you'll be 3 times unintentionally belittled, 3 times intentionally belittled, and have 6 pretty decent conversations that day Once I asked my Dad what he did at the labs, and his answer was so mind-boggling and convoluted that I never broached the subject again. I will most assuredly read your posts for any iota of insight I can glean, because I have an Eventide Harmonizer, and have seen the inside of that thing. It's like a supercomputer of a decade ago! While I'm playing through the presets I am blown away by the software programming that went into those presets as well(the processed sound is incredible through the SSv3 by the way), so I appreciate the science and engineering that goes into this equipment.I might be a little, well....dumb, but in my book if some engineer somewhere wants to be a world-class jerk, as long as he keeps pumping out this awesome equipment I'll be happy.
  2. OK, been saving the JBJ[45vews for many of you, so here you go: shipment...last Thursday so they should be shipping all the ,amy back orders mid weeIHI probably Wednesday or Thursday! And, this was a Triple order, so they should have enough to l ALL nackorders alasying untll the next shipment comes in aLate June! Are you inventing a new language to go along with your new technology, or was it just happy hour? Tim
  3. "Hey, there's nothing wrong with needling someone, no matter what their playing ability." Wow, that's it?!! I thought I was already exiled for life! Next time, instead of needling I'll have to try the electric cattle prod approach to test the waters!!
  4. Well that's fair.... I'm not a nuclear physicist, but my father was one. Did PHD work for many years, graduated Summa cum Laude etc. I don't claim to have his brains as I chose a different path, but I live in Los Alamos which has a lot of scientists, chemists, physicists, engineers, technicians living and working here, and I've been around them for many a long year. I don't know if that qualifies me to comment on scientific issues or not, but I do have an insight as to how discourse occurs between these various professionals. In my humble opinion, physicists seem to be the most "out there" my father included. Engineers as a rule are confident to the point of arrogance. Technicians are more hands on etc. My musical background is acoustic guitar, singer songwriter for 42 years, played mostly in church and local restaurants, weddings... Original and cover.I have been diligently pursuing piano/ keyboard for many long years with less impressive results than my guitar playing/singing which is good to perhaps advanced.I grew up listening to my mother playing outstanding piano(by ear) most notably a mean ragtime. I have practically every sfx/groove tube/cps piece of equipment ever created by Aspen and have loved the technology for 20+ years. I have been vociferously experimenting with all the possibilities for quite awhile and have a great love for the technology and have followed this blog with great interest. I have appreciated your comments (and humor) Timwat, and know that your piano playing would blow me out of the water and therefore respect your opinion. Was I needling the guy? The first comment yes, the second time not so much, just quoting Aspen. Did I know he was an esteemed member here? No. Are they off limits or incapable of crossing a line? You seem to be indicating yes. It seems to me that some here piled on Tombsalley and poked fun at his efforts, but Aspen himself seemed to indicate he appreciates all the hands-on guys and their reports more so than those who are trying to "figure it out" and make comments while never even having even heard or tried one. I would say that most everyone here has a real appreciation for Aspen's incredible little device, and I'm a great fan of it,and I suppose my comments were more toward my defense of it than trying to "needle" someone who I'm also sure could blow me out of the water with his keyboard skills. So Timwat, advice taken, hope you see I meant no great offense.
  5. A) "So before you just cannon ball into a pool of real CPS "experts" here who have actual knowledge, and who are sharing actual results, I'd suggest you first read and learn from the dozens of pros who have posted their "gig reports" here.".......(Aspen) B) "I'm only Playing with the idea of two. Not everyone here is using it solely As a keyboard or instrument mon./amp. This is THE p.a. For me now so,I want to be certain to fill my space. Maybe one is plenty but, two sure shouldn't hurt. And I've tried it in an outside space and feel it to be effective. This is my focus. Sorry if I offended anyone......(Tombsalley) Multiple choice quiz: Which type of poster does Aspen respect.....the one that provoked his response in A, or the guy out experimenting and expanding the possibilities of the SSv3 in B? Take your time......
  6. I bet he likes it even better when folks post: "I am trying to stay away from all the "psycho-babble" about the physics" Actually some of it is definitely pyscho-babble (you know who you are), so I bet he did like that comment!! Tim
  7. I play guitar as well, and enjoyed hearing about your setup and experience. I've used the SSv3 with an axe-fx with great results. Not to veer off into guitar land, but the CPS takes awhile to wrap your head around the possibilities. There's nothing out there remotely like it.Maybe you could start a Kemper/CPS forum? Let me/us know if you do......
  8. The SSv3 won't annoy ya...... Wait for it....... In La Jolla
  9. I'm not from California and I thought it was pronounced Van Nuys (noise)..... If not, my little pun sank like a Led Zeppelin.....
  10. I have a Phil Jones Bass suitcase w/ extension cab that I set the Spacestation on top of ( it almost looks like they were designed for each other) that sounds pretty amazing together...... Just as you were saying
  11. That was fantastic advice from Aspen.....pretty sure my settings were the exact opposite as he suggested. I was getting hiss, but now hiss is gone (bye-bye) and I have so much headroom I'm frightened to turn the SS up past 12. Thanks Aspen!!
  12. Aspen....you are a great innovator and seasoned business man. Besides being a great fan of (and owner of) years and years of your products( I still even have my fatfinger guitar pick!), I have a newfound appreciation of your savvy and (com)passionate way of bringing your great new spacestation to market. I am so hopeful to see what you bring to the table once the dust settles early/mid next year.you certainly have my prayers for a resolution to these current snags and for your continued success! I can't think of anyone more deserving......
  13. I personally hope Aspen sells a million of these units. The SSv3 won't fulfill every live sound application out there, but for me , just the thought that I can convey my music to a lot of small/medium venues and an audience can hear and appreciate the same surrounding ambiance I do as I'm practicing brings a smile to my face every time😀
  14. Your company or distributor would then sell the product for $700 to cover all the bases, sometimes you have to listen to the word of mouth and decide if it's worth taking the plunge and then do it, there's worse things than being out 50 bucks
  15. Aspen explained he's trying to find a new business model, word of mouth, limited distributorship, cutting down on headaches and heartaches of too many hands in the mix. He's been up front from the beginning he's hoping those that are happy with the product will share their experiences. I suspect there are other innovative products dieing on the vine because people are afraid the risk/ benefit is too high. I'm thrilled a seasoned inventor/businessman like Aspen is still in the game with a fantastic product to sell, and even trying creative marketing techniques which translates into (considerable?) savings for the end users. Those on this forum that took the risk are conveying their positive feedback for doing so....
