  1. I use a Phil Jones Bass Suitcase amp that sounds great, but he's coming out with these tiny Quantum amps this Fall.here's a brochure showing them: http://www.pjbworld.com/pdf/PJB2015New.pdf and here's a guy selling them who's a really great guy: http://www.guitarx.com/products/phil-jones-pure-sound-q-800-quantum-series-400w-compact-combo-1 They are certainly expensive, but I've found the PJB stuff to be first class, and those are 2 1/2" speakers and the whole package is as tiny and light as you're likely to find for bass stuff. Could be the ultimate tiny surround PA mated with the SSv3...
  2. Maybe they could open the Doors with a little swing....
  3. It seems a lot hinges on the SSv3 for a good Doors sound....
  4. "It still amazes me how the vast majority of SS3 owners have bought one solely based on just recommendations and gig reports from other players, mostly those posting on this thread...for which I shall be eternally grateful. Without you guys, and CPS fans like Tim Acomb and Michael Boddicker (who have EVERY CPS amp I ever made!) encouraging me to do this Version 3, and also my old friend Chuck Surack from Sweetwater Sound who "backed my play" (and now thanks to Hans Thomann too who has opened up Europe for CPS), I could never have relaunched this "bucket list" product of mine. Bless you all!" Thanks Aspen! I still get a thrill when I turn the width from zero to 12 o'clock and hear the 3D sound expand out into the room in the process. It seems magical. By the way, to be mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Boddicker is a thrill as well. Now if I could only magically play as well as him I'd be good to go!!
  5. I have the SSv3. I gave away my "stereo" Traynor K4.....
  6. That being said, I'm toying with the idea of bringing a single FA12ac to augment the SSv3 vs the Behringer. I'm guessing it would cover both the bass and the high-end crispness I crave pretty well. I'd be real curious to hear your opinion on that. Tim
  7. Thanks Autumn for moving past my lame joke. I thought I might be on the chopping block.( maybe I still am come to think of it..... Nobody get any ideas here)
  8. Does each Nord keyboard have its own associated library like the "Electro" or do they have a centralized library that all their keyboards can receive downloads from?I never have figured out the differences between the various models or the need for such a variety, but I see that a lot of guys here use them.
  9. I have a Kronos and the Rhodes sounds are really really nice through the SSv3'. Are there some keyboards that are known for their Rhodes sounds? I'd be blown away if they were even better than what I'm hearing! I can dial in and out some auto pan or chorus and it is so 3D! Just kinda curious.....
  10. I wonder how the SSv3 would've sounded facing " the shell"?
  11. How are you splitting into two equal stereo signals, could that be an issue? Also, I know with guitar amps there are ground loops and such unless you can isolate the split signals.
  12. One thing to try is using one RCF as a mono signal to get the tone you like and use the SSv3 to provide some ambiance to fill the room. You would need to split the signal with the mono to RCF, and the same signal to something like an eventide H9 with mono in stereo out to the Spacestation. Set the RCF on top of the Spacestation. Pick a nice reverb program with maybe a hint of chorus. If the H9 lets you dial in the wet/dry level, you could tweak it to your satisfaction. It is essentially a wet/dry/wet configuration that guitarists like because it gives them the cabinet sound they like and they dial in the effects to their liking. I've experimented with this a lot and people with a high end cabinet like yours could still get that purer reproduction for AP and have that room filling ambiance we all love with the SS at the same time.I don't think the SS is a one trick pony, and I think there are different ways to incorporate it into different styles and scenarios. I've done the wet/dry/wet thing with my guitar cab and with AP sounds as well and I think it sounds great!
  13. That's the funniest comment I've seen on this forum!!
  14. Because commenting on the Spacestation IS poetry for many.
  15. One thought I had about the SSv3 that I haven't seen mentioned yet is the idea of surround sound. I have an Eventide effects unit that offers a lot of stereo in quad out presets. I asked Aspen about it and he thought that since a quad effect has four discreet outputs, it almost certainly would work. He suggested putting the 2 space stations at opposite ends of the room. I have 2 spacestations and am going to try it eventually. But what if you had two of those Leslie pedals like someone said or two discreet stereo effects to send to the separate space stations? It would be like a (somewhat) poor mans surround sound system with oodles of possibilities all wrapped up in two small cabinets. Might work for some venues. Any thoughts?
  16. I actually find this kinda amazing that there is this much interest in cps/sfx gear! I've had versions of these units for 20 years and was always amazed that it never took off. It's true those earlier units were underpowered, but it was always fascinating to hear the effect in person....as everyone here well knows now. I'm just so happy for Aspen because this is his baby and deserves this kind of recognition. The fact that he's pulling it off via word of mouth and missing out on all the heartache and headaches of mass marketing is icing on the cake. Hopefully he'll make a 12" or 15" version!!
  17. Hey Aspen, Sorry about the goofy comments regarding your post. I thought your predictive text was going haywire on you! Your wife (and you) are in my wife's and my prayers. We have a fairly significant list of people struggling with illness and conditions we pray for every morning on the way to work.....sadly we will add your wife to gladly pray for!
