Stevie is just so incredible it's mind boggling, and looking at this, his playing/singing live is even more incredible than his recordings. It just blows me away when I hear a fantastic recording of someone, and then when I see them live it's even better.

Just fyi, if you have fluorescent lighting or a dimmer switch on the same circuit that you are plugged into, or even if your too close to flourescent lighting, it can cause a buzzing noise in you equipment.

MOI, Dream, and J Dan I'm so very glad you guys are pulling through the whole divorce thing.I just wanted to let you know about one thing I did while the children were small was to video record as much of the good times as I could. Later on after they were older and had kids of their own I made each child their own copies of the videos and gave them to them. They had forgothen about a lot of these times and we're only remembering a lot of the bad divorce times. It made a world of difference to them, and they were happy to show their children happy times from their childhood with grandpa.

I really just can't express how much I enjoy everyone's pictures in this thread. It's just too cool for words.

Ken, I know it's a lot of hazardous and tiring work to get these shots, but the results are absolutely worth it. They just stand out when you see them, as beautiful with an original style that is all your own. I do have a question about what tripod you are using though. (If you don't mind me asking) I know a heavier tripod would be more stable for the long exposure shots, but I also know hiking miles through rough terrain with heavy equipment would be tough also. So do you just accept the need for a heavier tripod and carry one, or do you carry a lighter one and hang weight (rocks) from a net underneath the tripod, or something like that, or is a lightweight tripod ok for what you are doing? I have a lightweight and a heavier tripod, but it seems I always have to carry the heavier one for outdoors because of the wind, especially when zooming. Or maybe I just need a better lightweight tripod.

Math, I can identify with what you are going through. My first marriage was for 15 years and we had 5 children. (although through dna testing 4 were mine and one was not, but the biological was finally found through dna from a list that was given to the judge). We had not gotten along but were still together until one day while I was watching tv, she said I want you to leave. I said no. She said if you dont, I will bruise myself up and call the police and tell them you did it. I left...permanently, and filed for divorce. Later she told the kids I left and abandoned her and them. There is more, and it sucks, but I'm won't go into it. As bad as all that was, I later ran into my wife who was also going through a bad divorce. We have been together for 20 years now and I couldn't be happier. I also deal with my ex wife occasionally and it is ok. A couple of tips: Never say to the children your mother (anything). Always refer to her by her name, that way you don't lump them in with her and whatever you say. Even if you don't mean it that way, they have a tendency to take it that way. Try to deal with the ex in a business like manner. Don't allow yourself to be provoked to anger. You will be dealing with her for a long time, (because of the children and later grandchildren) so businesslike seems to work. I feel for you on the cactus thing, those can be some wicked painful plants, especially those barbed cactus. I guess I've been lucky, I have only accidentally stumbled into the fuzzy cactus. You know the type that you don't think are to bad, until it starts to burn, and then you can't believe how many of the tiny thorns are actually in you, and you can't figure how to get all of them out. Funny to think about it now, not so funny then.

I'm curious Ken how you avoid rattlesnakes and such, that come out and hunt at night. It seems with the distance you are walking, and at night, you inevitably are going to cross paths. And excellent photo (as always) Ken.

Hey Marczellm, here are some original songs from a cd that my uncle and I did awhile back. Its a mixed bag of songs, but some are praise and still sang at church. Sorry it took so long to respond, but I had to make sure it was also ok with him to make these available for free download. So if you, or anyone else want to use any of these at your church we would be honored. I can also get the music without vocals and the lyrics for those who sing to tracks. Man, I would have ended up owing them money. I squirreled up a few of my Synkey punch cards trying to program what I wanted, and it only came with 25 blanks. All you had to do was miss the correct spot a little bit, and it may or may not work correctly.

Seems a shame they limited it to only viola ... -sorry Oops,.....voil'a. (dyslexia sucks) Actually I'm glad you pointed that out, or I would have just kept writing it that way. (The bad part is I proofread my post three times before posting, and it looked fine to me each time.)

The EML Synkey, the first programmable synthesizer, and it had second-touch. All you had to do to program it was, whip out one of your blank punch cards and punch out a rectangular hole in the appropriate location on the punch card, and the punch tool was included. Then just insert the punch card into the Synkey and viola your program was there. Also it was monophonic / polyphonic (sort of) You could only play one note at a time, but that one note could play a base tone plus up to 12 additional preprogrammed semitones. (It had a button for each semitone) I had one when they first came out in the seventies. It was pretty cool at the time, but evidentially not many were ever made. [video:youtube]

This is a home recording of a couple of songs that me and my wife recorded a while back, that were created from a couple of her poems. I also talked her into singing them since they were her lyrics, and I did the music. She had not done any singing before so it took a bit of convincing, but I think she did pretty good for her first time.

Just kinda hit me: "Nasty Nola" sounds like a great name for a New Orleans funk/rock band, doesnt it. The pics are pretty cool too.
