  1. lekanout, I expect by "commercial reasons" the salesperson was indeed referring to the practise of play-testing at the store, then ordering for a slightly lower price online.

But kudos to you for doing the right thing and supporting local music shops! ;)

To answer your query, I believe the MP11 is available for play-testing in Paris at 'Centre Chopin' - I will have to ask a colleague about the MP7 availability.

    Kind regards,

    James

  2. lekanout, congrats on your purchase.

It's unfortunate that you were unable to find an MP11/MP7 to play-test in Paris. Widespread distribution of stage pianos remains a challenge for Kawai as the majority of dealers focus on grand/upright acoustic and console-style digital instruments.

I shall pass on your experiences to our France distributor and recommend that the MP11/MP7 be easier to find in Paris.

    Kind regards,

    James

  3. lekanout, I would recommend also trying the Kawai MP7. Lower price than the Roland or Yamaha, yet voted the best all-round board in a recent comparison of stage pianos by 'Keyboards' magazine in Germany.

  4. Sorry if we were unclear. The CP 4 and 40 uses the same SCM technology that was in the previous models. "Based on" in this case means that all the sounds were redone to match the new Graded NW so they weren't simply ported , but improved from the previous models, but use the same technology.

Okay, thank you for the clarification.

The CP4 is a switching power supply so all you need is the right AC cable and you are good for 220 and 240 volt usage.

    Thumbs up!

  5. James, how might this new cp4,(lack of built-in speakers aside),compare with kawai's es7? It seems to be around the same price range.

    1) Far lighter

    2) No built-in speakers

    3) Because there are other sounds drawn from the Motif series, there's probably going to be more quality and breadth in its "extra sounds"

Basically, they're not that comparable. The ES7 is more suited to a "mixed" use, as it has a home stand and pedal unit available to match, whereas the CP4 is aimed at stage use.

This is largely correct, however I believe the ES7 is still an excellent choice for piano-oriented players that require a portable instrument - regardless of the fact that it features built-in speakers.

It's a little heavier than the CP4, certainly, but only by 3kg or so.

    Cheers,

    James

  6. Athan, may I ask you to clarify this point, please?

based on the Spectral Component Modeling sounds from the former series...

What does 'based on' mean in his context?

Does this mean that the CP4 no longer utilises the SCM sound engine from the CP1 (and CP5?)?

Of course, I'll understand if you'd prefer not to disclose this information.

    Cheers,

    James
