Hey Mike, does the CT-s500 have the same keybed as the CT-X3000/5000? The CT-s300?
It is the same keybed as the CT-S300. If you've played the CT-S300, I can only suggest that the CT-S500 will feel better as the sounds are a lot better.

Hmmm...getting the itch to upgrade to CT-S500 from my CT-S1. One question for anyone that might have experience: how does the battery time differ between CT-S500 and CT-S1 (assume it's got to be lower with the display).
The specs we have from Tokyo say 3 hours continuous.

Rule of thirds mostly but I'm always just looking for leading lines towards the subject.

Yes!
If you put it in Drawbar organ mode the sliders send CCs. You can also map the switches and other controls.

I think both boards have sampling, although a bit convoluted because the samples need to be sent through a mobile device.
You can load samples directly in from a USB drive, or sample through the audio input.

I'm biased but CT-S500 is a great choice. It weights 11 pounds, can run on batteries if need. Comes with Bluetooth MIDI. Lots of great sounds with some real-time control. $375.00

But I am wondering if there are any messages from any of the buttons on the device.
No that is not possible. There are the knobs, expression pedal and the pitch bend wheel. The SP-34 3-pedal option could also be configured to do things in your software.

This was an instant buy and I LOVE it. I do like some of the classic instruments they do but this is awesome and unique. Seriously deep but easy to navigate and killer sounds.

Travel photography was a big part of what I used to do. I was on the road almost every week prior to March 2020. I took my camera everywhere. I would always make the most of my time away from home to take photographs. Whether it was NYC skylines or amazing autumn scenes in the northeast, all over California and everywhere in between. My job would also take me to Japan at least twice a year and photography was always a big part of each visit. I might be going to Japan in May 2022, that will be my first big trip in a very long time.
My portrait work didn't slow down at all in fact both 2020 and 2021 were busy years because people were looking for something to do outside of the house. I have a few sessions booked for this spring already.
The last couple months with winter and no travel has been somewhat stagnant for me. My wife and I are traveling soon for a trip to Florida, so looking forward to a change of scenery, some bird and landscape photography and some sunshine.

To my knowledge despite the Roland rig, everything is being run via MainStage. At least it was on their last tour a few years ago.

It is truly amazing. The options can get overwhelming at times. The trick that they show at the end with Back Button Focus gives the most flexibility.

Thanks Mike. One other question: how does key action/feel on the S500 compare to the S1?
Exactly the same.

Hi Paul:
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blog postings... I've followed you over the years when researching gear for reviews and just for my own edification. Thanks for all your "deep dives" into the technologies (both hardware and software).

Is it possible to assign functions to the knobs that could act like drawbar controls for some of the organ tones? If not, could something like that be added later on?
Not really possible. Do check the way the "advanced organ" tone responds to velocity. Obviously not exactly the same thing but a unique approach to getting a variety of drawbar sounds in one patch that is very playable.

It would sound identical to the 1/4 outputs on the CT-S500.
All of the audio demos you've hard online by us were recorded via the headphone output.

Hello
I would like to know, which casiotone sounds better CT-S500 or CT-S1 and which will be better for musician (not arranger) to play mostly piano and rock music. I don't need houndreds of sounds but I don't know will the headphone output be enough to sound good linked to mixer and external speakers
CT-S500 has all of the CT-S1 tones and more. It also has control over cutoff, resonance, attack, release and full editing over effects. The CT-S500 also has 1/4" audio outputs.
The headphone out on the CT-S1 one is fine for connecting to mixers or external speakers.

It would suffice to be able to log in with user name rather than email…
My $0.02 since we run the same software for the Casio Forums. The forum software allows for it but it is highly not recommended. They will be discontinuing user name login in the future.
QuoteAllowing users to log in with a display name can represent a security weakness for your community because display names are public information and malicious users may attempt to login to multiple accounts with common passwords until they find an account for which the passwords work. It is recommended that you only allow users to log in with their email address.

I didn´t close the browser.
I clicked on the preview button above in the toolbar (2nd last button to the right) ...
When you do,- you get the preview and all the posts of this thread appear above the preview.
But the original I typed is gone (at least on my system*),- and I cannot edit anything in the preview.
Now when I go back from the preview,- all I typed is gone forever,- and it was again now.
I just only typed again and now don´t go to the preview and just only submit.
I can't duplicate that behavior. I tried it on Safari and Chrome and to test I also installed Firefox on my Macbook. It may be an issue specific to Firefox for Windows but I don't believe it is an issue with "lots of bugs" in the forum software. You may wish to double check any Firefox preferences or plug-ins. I'll add, while testing these, I've had drafts and previews in all three browsers, my text in each was cached in the browser so I could preview, close the browser entirely, open it back up and resume where I left off seamlessly. The content remained unique for each of the browsers so the data is cached locally.
For the record, the Invision platform used here is what we've been using over at Casio Music Forums for almost 10 years. While there are preferences and adjustments that are still being tweaked, I've personally never experienced bugs. The situation here at MPN is unique because the entire database was migrated over so there may be some lingering issues with existing content and dialing in site preferences but this platform is lightyears ahead of UBB.

Now I´m really pi##ed, sorry !
I typed a longer and more detailed reply to the Mac laptop thread and it´s gone after I went to preview and wanted to edit something.
CRAP !
That´s wasted time for sure and I don´t have the time to type everything new again.
Still lots of bugs here !
A.C.
I don't see how that is possible based on the way the system works.
As a matter of fact. I started writing this post with your quote above then closed by browser entirely. When I came back to this thread, just clicked in the reply area and my draft re-appeared.
So you can complete start something, leave and come back and it keeps track of your progress. You just have to click in the reply area.- 1
Casiotone CT-S1000V and CT-S500 arranger keyboards

Actually no, the CT-S500 has all majority of sounds of the CT-X5000 but the CT-S500 has many newly developed sounds that you won't find in the CT-X5000.
The advantage of the CT-X5000 is the arranger functionality and the speaker system.
