I live 50 miles due west of Chgo. It's an hour ride into the city on a good day, but usually longer...sometimes as much as 2X longer...plus parking is expensive, etc., etc. So although there are many great bands that come through town, one has to first carefully weigh the hassle/enjoyment ratio. On Oct 9, however, Victa will be playing at a community college only 15 miles up the road from me. And on the very same night, King's X, with all its dUg Pinnicky goodness, will be playing just 5 miles up the road from me. Of course, this is the same weekend that I'll be out of town. [sigh]

Same thing happened to my mom. She was referred to a specialist. The doctor read her chart, which had been sent over by her primary care doc, then came out to the waiting room to get her. She was the only one there. He looked around, then finally said, "YOU'RE Stephanie?!"

My sympathies, Butch. I found out on Wednesday that my company is going to be merged with another. The deal is expected to close within 30-120 days. I don't know if I'll have a job with the new company or, if I do, how much I'll lose in pay and benefits (which is the expectation). Why would they announce something like this so far in advance? Everyone is freaking out with fear, uncertainty and doubt. It's practically impossible to concentrate on work or follow through with project plans, since everything will change in a couple of months.
