  1. I upgraded to GP3 as well. I haven't tried any of the new features yet; the setlist feature looks cool but I have to see how I can make it work in my situation. We play almost all original material and rarely stick to a set list.

@nursers, i totally agree with @escaperocks, it runs quite a bit leaner than mainstage. I also have found it to be a lot easier to set up and get it to where you want it to be than I did with mainstage.

  2. It's hard to quantify, but i'd say it's MUCH better than the logic rhodes. Sounds better, responds to touch better, just better all around. I have quite a few Rhodes libraries at this point and I'd say they're all quite a bit better than the logic one. My list, from best to "least best". I hate to say worst because theyre all pretty good. I have the first 3 on my list all loaded up in Gigperformer, as I like each one for different reasons.

    Scarbee EX88

    Canterbury Suitcase

    AS V Tines

    Scarbee Vintage Keys

    Pianoteq Mk 1 and 2

  3. I used VTines at a gig this past saturday night. I didn't do a whole lot of tweaking and I run (in Gigperformer) all of my EPs trough Amplitude (fender twin) so I can't comment fully on the library since i ran it dry, with 3rd party effects, etc. I can say that it's very bright and "bell-y" out of the gate so you may need to do some editing if that's not your bag. It responded really well to my playing ( I run at a 128 buffer). I also use Canterbury and Scarbee EX 88. I don't see myself retiring either of those but I like the V Tines enough that it's definitely going to be added to my gigs.
  4. Sounded a bit "same-y" in the demos and it wasn't a sound that I'd go after, especially compared to the Canterbury Suitcase demos...but then again I don't know the real mk I from any other model so it might be spot on. With their reputation I imagine it is great so I'm looking forward to reviews.

I agree, not the sound i'd normally go for but I love their Wurly so much that I feel like I may need to explore this further.

  5. I got the same email today, as well. Between the Canterbury Suitcase and the Scarb EX 88 I really didn't think I'd need another Rhodes library. But based on how incredible the Achousticsamples Wurli is, I'll probably end up getting this. I had the same thought about the brightness, but agree, I'm sure that can be tweaked.
  6. Agree the Melda sounded sweet. I have L'otary and it is definitely an improvement on the VB3 sim.

But I no longer use it live. The combination of VB3 wrapped in 32 Lives plus L'otary in high CPU mode eats all available resources in MainStage on my machine leaving little over for other instruments in a spilt.

ive had the same experience. I use Lotary with vb3 when I'm just using organ. Any patch that has an organ split, I use Melda which I got on sale recently.
  7. Thanks for your help :)

I want to really give this B5 a good try to see if it's a fit for me. When I first got it, I thought, "Yeah baby!"

Then an hour later, I was, "Hmmm...not sure..."

I would love to find a virtual Hammond that does it all for "my ears". Everyone seems to have certain points they are particular about.

The UVI player host has excellent effects you can add after the B5 VST...I have been using an EQ to make it sound less-muffled, as well as some post-reverb. (Why Hammond VSTs often use reverb before the Leslie always baffles me! NI's vintage Organs, VB3, and this B5...)

The one thing that always stands out when using the B5 program is the Chorus/vibrato on C3. I use that C/V almost exclusively, but I feel like I am hearing some amplitude tremolo as well as the Chorus vibrato...does anyone else hear that?

    It sounds off to me.

Muffled is the perfect word! I like B5 but, like you, I find there's something that I just cant put my finger on. I always come back to VB3. Also, I found that B5 taxed my CPU in Mainstage more than VB3. I know a lot of people prefer B5 so I'm always curious to hear other opinions.
