  1. I'm a little late to this party, but I've found a nifty workaround that cries out to be shared. I like the Neo-Instruments remote footswitch for my Vent II. However, I don't need its STOP function, just SLOW/FAST, and I need the extra room on the floor that I would get by using a single button switch. I won't describe what I tried that DIDN'T work. What DID work is this: I took the TRS cable connected to the Vent II's remote jack and plugged the other end into the female TRS connector of a 6" Y-cable adapter. The adapter has two 1/4" male TS-type plugs on the other end, and they are (most conveniently!) labeled "Tip" and "Ring," respectively. I connected the plug labeled "Ring" into a Boss FS-5U footswitch and - VOILA! - the Boss toggles between SLOW and FAST. This is consistent with rogs' information that the Ring, and not the Tip, is the proper connection, so rogs deserves the credit for this idea. Incidentally, the Neo-Instruments remote footswitch is unlatched. Also, the above procedure works regardless of the polarity setting on the Boss unit.
  2. I don't understand the Search function at all. I logged in, clicked on the magnifying glass on the blue bar, entered my search term in the white box, then clicked again on the second magnifying glass, in the search box. I found NO returns that mentioned my search term, but 100 totally unrelated returns. When I changed my search terms, I got the same non-responsive returns. I've also tried entering the search request in the Advanced Search window, with no better results. I thought I'd try it one last time today to see if my luck had changed. It hadn't. FYI, I was looking for posts that dealt with the API 3124MV (a preamp/mixer). First, I searched for API 3124MV. Then I tried various permutations including API 3124, 3124 and API alone. I got no responsive results, and the same unresponsive and frustratingly unrelated returns. What am I doing wrong, and how can I search this Forum meaningfully? You have a boatload of posts, but I cannot for the life of me find what I'm looking for. Thanks.
  3. I'm looking for a mixer/preamp comparable in quality, overall configuration and price to the APB ProSpec 2U6M2S. APB has been sold to a Chinese firm and, after a hiatus, production has now resumed, but in China, not NJ as before. There is a service center in Canada, but not yet here in the US. The new product has not yet made it onto retail shelves, and I'm casting about for an alternative. The 2U6M2S is a rackmount unit, with 6 mono mic/line channels with preamps, 2 stereo line channels with selectable inputs, and EQ and High Pass Filters on each channel. I currently am using an A&H ZED10 mixer with a Radial Duplex DI box, and the ProSpec apparently blows them out of the water, at about 6 times the cost of the ZED (unclear at this point, but probably around $1,500-$2,000 for the new ProSpec). Does anyone have any suggestions?
  4. AnotherScott has opened my eyes. My original question was based on my belief that overdrive was overdrive, and I wanted to focus on either the Tall&Fat or the Vent II for my drive, whichever might be "best." However, now it looks like I'm actually dealing with two different types, the Tall&Fat drive emulating the AO-28 preamp in the guts of a Hammond organ, and the Vent II drive emulating the overdrive of the tubes in a Leslie's internal amp. Two different types of drive. So now I'm using the Tall&Fat to warm up the sound a little, then the Vent II for the grit or dirt that I usually think of as "distortion." Question asked and answered! Thanks, everybody.
  5. I have recently acquired a Lounsberry Tall&Fat and a Vent II for my XK3-c. Does anyone have any opinions as to which has the better overdrive?
