  1. I'm very interesting in this board. Price will be the big factor as well as, as Funkeystuff mentioned, how much more it gives me over my PX3.
  2. Two very different settings in two different days. Been a fun couple of days though. 1) Organ at the ballgame. Finally got this version of 'Tico Tico' worked out. Gratuitous shots of VENTILATOR included. [video:youtube]1l-L5kG4GtE 2) Drums and keys duo jam from last night. Using my new Moog Sub Phatty for L.H. bass. [video:youtube]Y8Jubhu0ulc
  3. Nice Linwood. I am always a sucker for smooth jazz piano. Love the harmonized harmonica w/ piano 1/3 of the way through. Of course I love smooth jazz played by real drummers and bass players. But production libraries don't require such things.
  4. Solid fusion and some cool lines for sure. That guitar player does indeed shred like a mofo! I'll always have a softspot in my heart for that tone and style of playing even if some consider it to be too much.
  5. That is rad. ii Ving to the relative major of the Gm. The Bb- Eb7 is intriguing too.
  6. Thank you guys. It's only a matter of time until I play that first note or interval that makes me wince a little bit and say 'damn, it's going out of tune again.' Hopefully that's months away. I love Maj7+5 chords. That D major already sticks out because its major. I was making it a #11 sometimes in my version. I have to give that Maj7+5 a try.
  7. You know that feeling when you get your piano tuned? I got mine tuned yesterday and was inspired to mic it up and just play. Here's an impromptu version of 'Alone Together'. Definitely not a 'composed' thing nor polished. Just letting loose and going a little nuts. [video:youtube]
  8. Steve Weingart was a student there I think, then later an instructor. When I studied with him he gave me some cool exercise photocopies that said 'Grove school of music' in the corner.
  9. I just watched this. I am sick of videos that showcase somebody playing some shit that you would never ever play in real life ever. Can you really get a decent sense of a piano sound, an organ sound, ANY of the sounds by watching this? Ugh. That demo sounded like the floor at NAMM. /rant
  10. Aidan, is that an improvisation or was is precomposed? (Either way it's gorgeous). I'm also interested in what gear was used. I hear pedal noises.
  11. Not really. Edit: well I am no academically qualified to truly question Czerny, but you could maybe play these dynamics very subtly and it would sound fine. You can do whatever makes you happy. Seriously. But know that it wasn't the composer's intent, nor at all the style of the time. Dynamics in Baroque literature definitely have a place. Subtle shading and highlighting of certain melodies and phrases can give the music further dimension. But bluntly wielding FFs and PPs to maudlin excess can ruin the integrity of the music.
  12. Had no freaking idea about this. I bet there's tons of younger LA cats who don't know this either. That's amazing!
  13. Some of my own thoughts on Bach: -I will be wrestling with the WTC until the day I die and my life will have been greatly enriched as a result. -Every piano bench should have a book of Bach's 'other misc' works (Little Preludes and Fugues, etc) in it. Some of the pieces in there are quite approachable with limited ability and yet they too are excellent. -Playing Bach helps me with bebop lines immensely. -Glenn Gould was and is the man in my book. -I can't believe the Brandenburgs sat unopened for so many years. Imagine writing such an incredible work for someone and them not even acknowledging it. Did Bach even hear them performed in his lifetime?
  14. Just listened to your Fe Fi Fo Fum. Such a great tune. Your version was outstanding! I really love the diff textures when you do the quarter note chords in the L.H.. And the solo is superb.
  15. Hey all y'all with 1-50 posts: Nobody wants to hear the music of people who aren't regular contributing members of this forum. This is a community dagumit. Thank you.
  16. Just listened it to. Really cool. Everything was from the synth? Even the 'bomb' style cinematic kick sounds? Awesome.
  17. Whoa. Thanks Linwood! Coming from you that's some motivational fuel for sure. Just trying to hustle in the modern world. I do still maintain that I want to be like Linwood when I grow up though.
