  1. Any suggestions of where else I should upload? Then I'll put it up again. That would certainly be a major drawback if we can't hear each other. And yes, we can always follow it up with transcriptions, when someone wants it.
  2. That's great, kanker, it's wide open to any reharm or part of a tune. Feel free to pick a tune. To get it rolling, we'll go with anything anyone wants to put up. Like, I'm sure you have a totally reharmonized version of Giant Steps you'd like to share with us.
  3. I've never started a thread here, but since Dave Ferris started a couple of nice threads on lines and chords, it could be fun to have a reharm thread with audio. We can't tell the nuances of one's voicings from chord symbols, since they only suggest a sound. Marino inspired this idea with a nice F/G chord at the 3rd bar of "Here's That Rainy Day." So I did a spontaneous, quick reharm of that old tune just now, including that F/G voicing on the third bar. I could've played it better, but the idea is there: http://www.divshare.com/download/4064972-570 Let's share some audio of reharmed songs here. We can also do multiple reharms of the same tune by different members for comparison. Reharms only, no totally original music. Any interest in trying this?
  4. Yeah Frode - there's nice spirit in your playing. Welcome!
  5. In that case, then next to your wife and Linwood, I may be your biggest fan.
  6. Remarkable. She's equally talented as a dancer and a trumpet player.
  7. Nice rendition, Dave! I especially liked the voicings and the left hand movement stuff. Also, good recording and nice axe.
  8. Thanks to both you guys. That band played the last night the One Step was open. We actually closed a lot of rooms - but only the best ones. Band name idea: 'The Room Closers' "Need to close your club? Give us a call!"
  9. Thanks a lot Roger... the one you have is from that website, but the one Dave has is a long, demented solo from the old One Step Down in D.C.
  10. Yeah Dave, great stuff and nice to hear it on the forum. It's about time... now Dave and I are officially former members of 'The Procrastinating Jazz Pianists Society.' Sounds beautiful, Dave.
  11. Thanks kad. Linwood, thanks for your kindness and thoughtfulness, but I'll be ok - I have all inflatable gear now (inflatable keyboard, inflatable PA, inflatable audience, etc.)
  12. misterkeyboard, in the off chance you're addressing me, I'd say listen to everything you like, but expose yourself to different music whenever possible. That way you will have more choices to decide what it is you really want to play later. You have a nice touch.
  13. Thanks everybody for such kind comments, and thanks to Linwood for sticking his neck out on my behalf. What a guy. I'm not Steve Kuhn (wouldn't mind if I was) but anyone is always welcome to PM me if they have any questions I can answer. I'm an open book (except of course for my credit card/S.S. information.) The musicians on those trio tracks with me are Marc Johnson (bass) and Howard Curtis (drums.) Thank you all for listening.
  14. haha Linwood, makes me want to run out to the hardware store... except I just realized I don't need anything. Good job there - funny.
  15. Confession: I came here looking to resolve my equipment questions and posted away like a crazed poltergeist without ever introducing myself. Then I was glad to see an old friend, Linwood, was on here. And now that my gear questions are all answered, I'm still here. So hi, I'm Steve, pianist/keyboardist. I've played all kinds of music but focused more on improvisational music (types of jazz I suppose) for most of the years. I won't list the gear I've bought in my life since it might tax the bandwidth. I play, write and record, like many of you. I've done jazz festivals, college clinics, clubs, road stuff, you name it, as both sideman and leader. I perform regularly today with my trio/quartet, and others, and finishing up a new CD. Sorry for the belated introduction. But thanks for providing the forum and to the friendly, well informed members who've helped me with my gear questions.
