  1. Well.... drool drool drool... (making a mess here). Nice to see the ol' MiniKorg amongst all the other goodies. I miss mine.
  2. My stuff is spread out in three rooms. http://flyboyfilms.tv/Ellsounds/lrkbds.jpg The living room has my 1963 Baldwin Acrosonic piano that I started lessons on. And my Yamaha D3 Electone organ. http://flyboyfilms.tv/Ellsounds/rrkbds.jpg The band rehearsal room in the basement has my Kurzweil SP76, Alesis QS7, Korg Polysix (with MIDI), Akai XR20 and V-Machine. The V-Machine can be controlled from the Kurz, QS7 or P6. I use it mainly with Messiah, OP-X and VB3. Nice analog bliss MIDI-ing the P6 and Messiah together! The P6 goes through a Korg G3 effects pedal mainly for delay and distortion. Not shown - Roland AX-1 which I play out on occasion. There's also my QSC K10 and out of sight on a nearby shelf are the Studiologic TMK-88 and Novation Xiosynth. Pardon the messy cords; this was taken during a quick setup after a gig. I usually use velcro ties to tidy up a bit. http://flyboyfilms.tv/Ellsounds/studkbds.jpg My soundtrack/video editing studio has the Roland Fantom X7, QSR, MKS-100 and CME UF7 controlling Sonar 8.5 Producer and tons of soft-synths. Not shown is my Strat in the corner. Admittedly I don't have the latest and greatest but I have to allocate some of my gear spending for video production equipment as well! So I make the most of the older boards I have.
  3. 76 key boards really make the difference. Both my gigging boards are 76 keys and I can fit them, my QSC K10, PA speakers and head, stands and cables/pedals bag all in my mid-sized 2002 Toyota. I think having a Yamaha board wouldn't allow me to quite fit everything - my Yammy stuff (save the little S03) stays at home. Always felt their full sized boards to be way too bulky as you've found the S70 to be.
  4. Just recently posted two tunes from the new Aethellis album at Power of Prog. CLONK HERE "Northumbria" has a lot of vocal harmonies and ELP-style organ/bass/drums interplay and clocks in just under 11 minutes. "Sounds Good" is a more conventional upbeat jazzy/poppy instrumental with lots of VB3 Hammond work. Both with be fine tuned a tad for the final album release in the Spring.
  5. Here's a sample of "Northumbria" from the Aethellis: Northumbria album (prog rock) due out mid-2010. CLONK HERE
  6. I have just completed the edit of my feature production that I've written, directed and scored: Beside The Manor Selby. Here's the song from the end credits done in "music video" style with scenes from the film: "In Grief Unbound." I wrote the music and lyrics and played the instruments (keyboards of course, Roland Fantom X7 and Mirsoslav Philharmonik). It is sung by the fabulous Dyan Brown. 7. Also, here's a music video of a song off my Aethellis album, "Hubris." I posted a link to the song sometime back. Lotsa keyboards! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zCP-S4HgeY
  8. Hi Leber, thanks! I'm not at my main music computer right now so I'd have to check to be sure but I think some of the loops were from Silicon Beats along with me playing drum samples (the Leah kit from Sonik Synth 2) on the keyboard. There's also a lot of weird drum sounds mixed in (UFO kit from the Alesis QS8.1) played on the keyboard for those Q/squirty sounds.
  9. Hi all! Wild stuff here, eh? This is an older piece that I jazzed up recently (hence the "groove mix" designation). It's called "Exchequer Prague" and it's sort of Progressive Electronica with some jazz piano. Whatever genre THAT would put it in. Enjoy! Comments appreciated! http://mysite.verizon.net/ellsounds/aethellis/exchequer.html
  10. Always some amazing and delightful stuff here! On a different note, I just finished a soundtrack to a sci-fi movie. All done on keyboards of course and orchestral in nature. Here are a few clips (audio is not the greatest as these are flash videos but they are adequate): DragonPhoenix Attack The Journeyman Intrepid In Danger
  11. Hey Vlad, Niiiiice! I like how the opening riff develops. And I like that change around 1:20 or so to a lighter feel with the new chords. Is that you on the any of the guitars? Excellent playing and the synth solo really stands out. The mix is so good it sounds nice on my really crappy laptop speakers.
  12. Hello Dave and all! I'm a 47-year-old keyboardist/vocalist that leans towards the proggy but enjoys classical, jazz and electronic as well. Got started on piano at age 6 and took formal lessons for 12 years and after that starting playing in the usual bands acquiring an electronic piano (first a Univox Compac, then a nice Roland MP600 with weighted action!) and used synths (MiniKorg, Crumar Performer, Polysix). Got my first keyboard mag (Brian Auger) in 1977, then all the back issues and have subscribed ever since! Still play live after 30 years most recently with my own prog/pop/rock band Aethellis and last year left my part-time fiscal job to do soundtrack work full time for various projects including my own (I was a film/video major). I still have my beloved Polysix and had it MIDIed up. Spent more on than I should have, perhaps, but just love its simplicity! Besides, I sold it in 1988 after having it for 4 years and regretted that action. Miraculously I saw it in a local Guitar Center in 1999 and bought it. Only when I got it home did I realize it was the same one I had sold because my same custom patches were still there! Along with the P6, I have a budget studio with Sonar 2.2, Alesis QS 8.1, Korg DW8000 (also from my past) and am started using softsynths. Live I use a Rubbermaid, er, Studiologic TMK-88 controlling an old Emu Proformance module and QS 6.2. Plus the old Roland AX-1 for faux guitar (even though I do play real guitar a bit)! All light! But I am toying with changing my setup all the time (aren't we all?) Great to meet everyone here!
  13. Thank you, Gulliver!! I get that quite a bit and I'm certainly not complaining!! Tony is one of my faves.
  14. Hey all! I'm new to this forum although I've been a Keyboard Mag subscriber since the 70s. All these tunes are terrific (I do have a leaning towards proggy stuff as it turns out). Here's a tune of mine that hit #1 at the Broadjam Progressive Rock chart (and stayed in the top 10 for 6 months). The mp3 encoding they did isn't the greatest but you'll get the idea. Hubris
