So to use the 5751, I need to have the tone stack modded?

Myles, I got the 5751 installed in the Super 60 I wrote about, and I like the tone and feel of the lead channel very much. But something that may have been going on all along is happening that I don't like. When I switch to the clean channel, the eq changes from an average, sort of balanced tone to a very bassy one, overbearingly so, to my way of thinking. Are you familiar enough with the Super 60 to know if that is a common thing?

Myles, I got the 5751 from a guy in Texas. I wanted to be sure I'm putting it in the correct socket to get the desired gain reduction from my Fender Super 60 amp head.. I think that would be V101, which if I'm not mistaken, is the socket closest to the input. Is that correct?

Myles, I just picked up a Fender Super 60 head in a trade. The clean side is really good, but the crunchy side sounds kinda nasty. I'd like to get a bluesier sound out of it, by which I mean smoother, lower gain, less harshness in the highs, but still able to sing like a pushed Fender. I wondered about using lower gain preamp tubes, i.e., 12AY7 or 12AU7, or even lower gain than those if you can suggest one. What would you say about that? By the way, one thing about this amp; it has black knobs, not red ones. Is it the same model as the red knob amp?
