  1. Since when has GAS ever been about need? I want one as well..... There are things about this new board that incorporate many things I've wished for in a live performance workstation. Like you, I'll have other things paid off by the time this arrives to try....oh boy... it never ends
  2. Dammit. I am gassing hard for the 08. Ugh.
  3. Thanks Steve. Yeah, it was a blast. As I said, it never gets old when we get the feedback m he crowd that they are digging what we're doing. Riding this train as long as I can
  4. A small snippet of us at House of Blues main stage. Crowd reactions like this never, ever get old. ps. Sorry for the poor mix. The person taping this was standing next to the side fill that was heavy with drums. [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsEG3hCA2_A
  5. Likewise for me too. There are so many things in our show I could use those pads for to make life easier on a gig.
  6. Damn, brother....it's time for good karma to start smiling on you. Glad you weren't hurt. I had a garage spring get away from me once, and the distance it went before hitting a wall scared the crap outta me.
  7. If we don't hear from you in 24 hours, we'll know her reaction.
  8. LOL see? this is what happens when I get taken to the last page of a new to me thread and start reading from there Carry on...I'm going back to la la land
  9. Maybe I need to reread the posts.. I really want my main board (88) to be able to be a master that sends prog change to other boards or external gear. I could be misreading what you all are saying here...which wouldn't be the first time.....
  10. Well, my slowly rising interest in the FA-08 just totally deflated after this revelation. These companies get so close, then......
  11. Moe, Making the jack panel for my rack saved lots of time and headaches at setup. Somewhere around here there's some pics. I got everything from Redco: pre punched single space panel, 1/4", XLR, MIDI jacks, and custom engraved jack labels. That and the snake I had them make me turned wiring up a 30 second affair.
  12. what's going on here and who are you people?
  13. I never made it back to GC to really spend time, so I don't have any further review other than the brief one I posted above.
  14. Ha!! I totally understood what you are saying. No worries I have never [played any of the boards you mentioned, so I can't comment. I was completely surprised my local GC had both on the floor, albeit a bit hidden and with no labeling/price tags up yet. I thought the CP4 ha d bit lighter but more solid feeling action than my old CP33, if that even makes sense :idk
  15. So I was at my local GC at lunch today. Hidden in a dark corner of the keyboard room were both a new CP4 and a new MOXF8. Of course I now have gas. I'm going to plan more time tomorrow to play with them, but I'll give my very first brief impressions. CP4: Played beautifully. The keybed action felt extremely nice to me. Even better than my old CP33. It just connected. The sound, even through the crappy amps were excellent. Layering was simple and compared to my old CP33, having the dedicated button to turn off layering (above the voice sliders) is a nice touch. MOXF8: I didn't dig too deeply into it. I am very familiar with the entire layout and keybed since I've been gigging with an MOX8. The keybed is no CP4, but it's a compromise I make to get the sounds without the weight and cost of a MOTIF. The main thing I wanted to test was polyphony. So, I created some performances just as I use now with a few layers. I may have induced GAS in myself as there was no note stealing that I sometimes get on my MOX8. Also, the lighted buttons will help on those dark stages (although I solved that a while back via a USB light plugged into the board itself). Tomorrow I'm going to take my jump drive and load my setup since it's supposed to be compatible with my .x4a files. I'll have more first hand impressions when I get to spend more time.
  16. Moe, that is awesome!! One question: have you thought about some type of cap/cover for the rails out front? I could see myself slicing my hand up when I get overly enthusiastic.
  17. Here's my stage rig. Korg Triton Extreme 61 above a Yamaha CP33. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/escaperocks1/ax90-3.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/escaperocks1/IMG_0384.jpg And of course we can't forget the keytar http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/escaperocks1/MG4625-L.jpg Playing all three together http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/escaperocks1/MG4681-L.jpg
  18. While not a gig, it's still crazy: 6 years ago we were holding auditions for our new lead singer. Rented a very nice studio. Had our sound guy there with his stuff.. One of the song was Don't Stop Believing, of course... I start to play it and the guy auditioning motioned us all to stop. Then proceeded to tell me I was playing wrong. I'm thinking okaaaaaaaayyy. I politely asked him what was off. He knew just enough piano and some basic reading skills. He said, "the sheet music, and Journey's song book goes like this...." I let him play my rig. Totally wrong. As some of you know, the published sheet music his not even close to correct on this song. He actually wanted to argue that regardless what it sounds like or how Jonathan plays it makes no difference. The sheet music must be followed. He obviously failed his audition with us.
  19. Yes, to Bern and Sven: I caught the mistakes when listening to the studio album. For whatever reason I was having mental block on this song, so this just helped me along. Oh, and way to keep it classy, Sven. Don't you have a newbie to run off somewhere in this forum? Did I put enough smileys so others know it's just a joke ?? Seriously, Sven in one of the more helpful people on KC.
  20. I found these and it helped me a lot. [video:youtube] [video:youtube] [video:youtube]
