  1. My very first keyboard back in 1969/70.  I was a junior in high school and my Dad sent me this from Japan (he was stationed over there in the Air Force).  I fell in love with all the rock bands using B3/Leslie.  I wanted a Hammond but got a Farfisa instead.  It kind of sucked but it was better than a Vox to my ears.

  2. I typically play two keyboards in my home setup.  Sometimes a friend will play acoustic guitar and sing.  Also might want to plug in a laptop with drum tracks. Maximum of 8-10 tracks.  This is NOT professional, just having fun.  People come over and listen and often say at the end "I wish I could have a recording of what you guys just played."

So I bought a QSC Touchmix 12.  Honestly, it's a pain in the ass.  I keep running into situations where the recording functionality stops working, long story.

I want a mixer that will easily record to an SD card or USB hard drive.  It would be nice if it had onboard reverb.

    Any suggestions?

P.S. these are home worship-oriented sessions, keys, ambient, kind of like unplugged sets only with keyboards

  3. Every other Friday evening I bring my Yamaha MOXF8 over to a friends house for a church-type get together.  I open the meeting with about 45 minutes of ambient non-structured keyboard playing (pianos/pads/strings).  I have two Bose S-1 speakers that are used for the left and right channels.  Several people have asked if i can record what I play so they can listen afterwards.  I was thinking about something like a Zoom H6.  Is there a way to connect something like an H6 directly to the speakers so it's basically direct recording as opposed to using the built-in microphone of the H6 or similar device?  This does not have to be super high quality, just something better than microphones that would pick up coughing or other room noises.

    Thanks

  4. Thank you Dave.  I just realized something ..... I bought a pair of Bose S1 speakers for my living room setup.  I could use those, plugging the Yamaha into one and the Fantom into the other.  The reason for the question is we were at a friends house last night and they want me to play there for worship sets about once a month.  He owns the MOXF8 and I was going to bring over my Fantom cuz I do better with two keyboards.  I'm not a pro by any means and usually two keyboards sounds better (e.g. pads on the top keyboard and ambient piano on the lower keyboard).  The Bose speakers will be easy to pick up and carry because they are light and have handles.

  5. I have two K12's in my recreation room that I would like to place on the floor.  Right now they are elevated at ear level and I want to lower them closer to the floor, mainly for aesthetics.  My rec room is about 20 feet wide and 14 feet deep and they are placed about 10 feet apart along the far wall.  What I want is some kind of stand that would lift them about a foot off the floor and tilt / angle them upwards about 15 degrees into the middle of the room.  I'm not very handy so was hoping you guys could recommend some kind of off the shelf product.

    Thanks

  6. OMG, another stand thread.

What I need is something that is very sturdy and is adjustable for the top keyboard.  I have a MOXF8 on the lower position and a heavier Kronos 88 on the upper tier.  I also want something that leaves plenty of room width wise for sustain and other pedals on the floor.  I had an ultimate stand and didn't like it.  Then I decided to order the K&M 18950 with upper tier attachment and it is on backorder for another 2 or 3 months.  So I want to cancel that order and get something I don't have to wait for.  Any suggestions?

  7. My wife and I have worship type meetings at our home and I play ambient, atmospheric music using my Kronos and MOXF8.  Both boards have some onboard drum/percussion patterns but I have never really gotten into them.  Most of my playing is slow, melodic and improvisational stuff.  MANY MANY times I have wished that I had some way to press a few buttons and call up some soft percussion patterns to accompany my keys.  It's hard for me to explain it, but maybe some shakers, soft congas, a few rim shots, I don't know.  Like the kind of percussion you might hear on a movie soundtrack.   I have looked into DAWs (Ableton, etc) and I just don't have the time to learn all that.  I researched iPad drumming software and found a few things but could not find what I'm looking for.  Ideally you could string some patterns together and loop them over and over, but I definitely need PRE-PROGRAMMED patterns, not a drum machine with 16 pads where I have to tap out my own rhythms.  Who can help?

  8. I tend to like sitting a little higher than the typical keyboard player.  In my church setup I have been using a regular Rock 'n Sock drum throne.  Very comfortable and works for me.

Has anybody tried the one that is adjustable?  Looks intriguing, especially since I will use it in my studio part of the time and in my living room where my Nord Stage sits lower than my other setup.
