Thanks, all. Apparently though, this isn't a 70s VM, just a VM. I was going by what the seller told me, but some further research says it's a VM, but not the 70s model.
Whatever it's called, I like it. :)

Squier Vintage Modified 70s Stratocaster, acquired for a really good price because the seller listed it with an intermittent pickup. I was hoping it'd be a loose solder joint or similar easy fix- Turned out to just need all the pots rolled back and forth and the 5 way switch moved back and forth a bunch of times, all working now and no other work needed.
I cut off the strings and assertively cleaned the guitar and the grungy fingerboard until I thought enough was enough, restrung with fresh new strings and I think it's a keeper.
Feels about 8 lbs or so, really nice vintage white color and the Duncan Designed pickups sound really good. One small nick in the front, another on the back, otherwise almost new condition. The neck is really impressive, the edges feel rolled and the frets are well done. The neck shape just feels right to me, it's very comfortable.
Now I'll probably sell off a Strat I don't like as much as this one... That one is fine but I almost never play it, I think I've already played this one more than I have that one.

I look at local listings a lot and I see a lot of fluctuation, but mostly see things sit for long at prices that never change, or deals that vanish right away. I've bought three Strats in the last year and paid under $500 for all three, including one acquired yesterday. Still some deals out there.

A big day for the Acro at the Super Bowl Halftime Show- Anderson .Paak was using a 6.5x14 Brass Acro with a 5x14 Acro side snare.

Been playing on the Acro for a minute and I like it a lot. It's exactly what it is, and that's enough. I recently acquired another Ludwig snare that's been alternating places with the Acro, and I am very pleased with both, but the Acro has something special to it, for sure.

I am generally not hesitant to work on my guitars, but fret work is still the unexplored adventure for me. I do have a couple of guitars that could use some attention too, but I'm on the fence between risking taking them somewhere unfamiliar, or risking doing the damage myself.

Do you have one? As of recently, I do, and I get the hype.
It sounds really good at lots of different tunings, the tone control knob really works, the drum is good for lots of different styles, and while not exactly the bargain it used to be, used they're not overly expensive and they are very plentiful.
Mine is my metal snare along with my wood snare drum (Yamaha Tour Custom Maple) and while I may want another snare drum, I don't really need another.
Do you have one, or want one? Or, dislike/not want one? Let's talk.

I recently acquired an Acrolite, and on that the bottom head is as tight as common sense will allow, and the batter head tuning varies around that. Lots of variety that way.

My current set of go-to hats is the top from a set of Zildjian Quick Beats (I have the bottom, also) and the bottom (I think) from a 60s Zildjian set. They work well together, dry and tight with a great open/close sound and good variety of sounds with stick placement, I'll even hit the bell for accents. The Quick Beats I got locally on CL for $80, the bottom was a pawn shop find, I think it was $20.
I typically avoid nylon tip sticks.

The Paiste Alpha Metal Ride is a totally different thing from my old As- it's bright and aggressive with a great ping and a good wash, but it doesn't blend very well with the others. I'm trying to decide if I want to embrace the difference in the set, or maybe start building a "rock/metal" set. We shall see.

In my case I think it's because that cymbal sound was the cymbal sound of a lot of the music I grew up with, so that sound is "the sound" for me.

"Played out" or 'time tested", I still enjoy my old As. Mine are a mix from different eras that all work sonically perfectly together, sound really good for a lot of styles, and were gotten inexpensively. No complaints here.
I did just receive a Paiste Alpha Metal Ride that has a great bell sound- I'm looking forward to learning more about that one.

Additionally-first guitar with slotted tuners, and I am wondering they aren't more commonly used (and why they're disliked by so many). Easy string install and they stay in tune.
I like 'em.
