  1. Okay. I give up. Late in his life, George purchased a custom made green Telecaster. The final Beatle videos, "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" show him using it in the studio. I remember seeing a link as to who made the guitar, but I can't remember. Who made the guitar??? Thanks, Tedster...
  2. Mr. Myles... Hey, just wondering if there's any software available that will allow people posting on a board such as this to be able to post chord charts, tablature, and standard notation (without being too cost-prohibitive). ????
  3. Muchos Gracias, Senor Rose...
  4. Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Rose, Dr. Howard... Nyuk nyuk... One of my students came in with a pawnshop prize. A Magnatone Custom 413...it's a 1x12 combo, looks like from the early 60s...perhaps even late 50s. Cool, all tube amp...but...it makes horrible hissing, crackling noises. Kinda like the sound of a dirty pot...but it won't stop no matter what you do...it's constant, and so loud you really can't use the amp. I'd like to see this kid get the old thing in working order. Any ideas?
  5. (SPEWS COFFEE THRU NOSE ALL OVER DESK)... Okay, Steadyb...now lookit whatcha made me do... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
  6. Geez...have to hear it again. I don't recall a guitar solo...just a lotta synths...
  7. Hey, Nate, reading your post I feel really OLD...hehehe...better to feel young, I think! Just blink your eyes and you'll have grandkids...so enjoy every minute of being young while you can. Hmmm, keys and trumpet, sounds like we've got a jazz protege in our midst!! Cool...
  8. Or perhaps a bed for my kids when they won't get up for school???

Besides music I'm also an avid furniture builder (that will be my "retirement" job) Somehow, I find this statement rather unsettling...like, suppose after you retire I buy some of your furniture, like a recliner, and pull the handle and it blows me through the ceiling...HAHAHAHAHA.... On second thought, could you design me a couch for "guests" that have overstayed their welcome??? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
  10. Dansouth said... >>>Yeah, but from what I can surmise from the MP rumor mill, you've definitely mastered the Johnny Winter thing. Ahhh, Dan, if it were only true, I could die a happy man... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Johnny's my idol. Even though he's toasted himself during his life...he kinda defines blues and (gravelly scream) ROCK N' RO-OOOOLLLL to me...
  11. Awright...I guess it's okay, I've seen a couple other "non-keyboard" major types post here. My name is Ted Hoffman. Got the Tedster thang 'cause that's what a lot of folks at work call me. Yep, I'm a postaholic... Guitar is my main instrument (collective gasp from the gallery). I'm sort of a musical weekend warrior. Used to do it more full time, but with a family, y'know...wife, Deb, two sons, Andrew, 18, and Derek, 16, and a daughter Lindsay, 14. Currently, I'm 44 years old...a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center in Kansas City (any of you who are pilots know what SIGMETS and AIRMETS are...our office issues 'em). Kansas City is a great place for blues, brew, and barbecue...so I kinda like it here. Graduated from Florida State with my B.S. in Meteorology in 1989 (I went back to school late). Originally from Michigan, but lived in Alaska for five years as well. I guess I'm one of those who considers myself like...I play guitar, but I'm not really a guitar player...not in the "Pat Metheny" sense. I sing, but I'm not really a singer, not like someone who's really good. Same with songwriting. But, I have a heckuva good time. Equipment...well, I have an old Korg DSS-1 and an upright piano, which I do plonk on from time to time. Guitar stuff...I have a Guild acoustic...Fender Am Std Strat...Washburn A-20...and a Rick 360-12. Amps...Marshall TSL-122...an older Marshall JCM 800 1x12 50 watt tube combo, and a 1970 Ampeg VT-22 (all tube amps). I record to the computer using Cool Edit Pro. Works for demos. Use a Mackie 1402...JoeMeek VC3...Alesis Nanocomp...BBE Sonic Maximizer...and an ART verb. Favorite artistes...Beatles, Bach, Brahms, Allman Bros., Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren, Elvis Costello, B.B. King, ahh, the list goes on and on...although I appreciate musical acuity, I'm probably more into a good song than astounding chops...
