Awright...I guess it's okay, I've seen a couple other "non-keyboard" major types post here.
My name is Ted Hoffman. Got the Tedster thang 'cause that's what a lot of folks at work call me. Yep, I'm a postaholic... Guitar is my main instrument (collective gasp from the gallery).
I'm sort of a musical weekend warrior. Used to do it more full time, but with a family, y'know...wife, Deb, two sons, Andrew, 18, and Derek, 16, and a daughter Lindsay, 14.
Currently, I'm 44 years old...a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center in Kansas City (any of you who are pilots know what SIGMETS and AIRMETS are...our office issues 'em). Kansas City is a great place for blues, brew, and barbecue...so I kinda like it here. Graduated from Florida State with my B.S. in Meteorology in 1989 (I went back to school late). Originally from Michigan, but lived in Alaska for five years as well.
I guess I'm one of those who considers myself like...I play guitar, but I'm not really a guitar player...not in the "Pat Metheny" sense. I sing, but I'm not really a singer, not like someone who's really good. Same with songwriting. But, I have a heckuva good time.
Equipment...well, I have an old Korg DSS-1 and an upright piano, which I do plonk on from time to time.
Guitar stuff...I have a Guild acoustic...Fender Am Std Strat...Washburn A-20...and a Rick 360-12.
Amps...Marshall TSL-122...an older Marshall JCM 800 1x12 50 watt tube combo, and a 1970 Ampeg VT-22 (all tube amps).
I record to the computer using Cool Edit Pro. Works for demos. Use a Mackie 1402...JoeMeek VC3...Alesis Nanocomp...BBE Sonic Maximizer...and an ART verb.
Favorite artistes...Beatles, Bach, Brahms, Allman Bros., Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren, Elvis Costello, B.B. King, ahh, the list goes on and on...although I appreciate musical acuity, I'm probably more into a good song than astounding chops...
