Theo Verelst
It might be fun for some of the "nuclear physicists" around here, but it's a test of my (still not all timing corrected...) studio processing software, which does an immense amount of digital signal processing to figure out what's in a sampled signal source and map it more properly to current DACs. The result of this decent distance (mono) recorded mini lecture attempt is that there are sound effects that are more natural, even though you hear monitoring of the recorded signal via some sort of distorted signal version. That sounds a little like a big ol' tube based tape recorder with built in speaker playing back something pre-recorded, it allows for speaking or singing with some idea of how the recording will tend to sound after the correction phases have sample-detached it. Recording was done with an AT2020 pre amped via a Lexicon Omega, recorded with a Yamaha MG16XU, with some slight dynamic effects with eq which are mostly counterbalanced in the first DSP pass. All adjustments were not fine tuned, and there's no attempt here to correct for the mike's frequency curve or cancelling the rear side impulse response. [video:youtube] T.
