I chose the university I did for my music degree largely on the basis that they had one of these beasts installed. It cost 25,000UKP at the time! A nightmare to program but could make noises like no other... [video:google] Also, this Sound On Sound special interview with Zinovieff is required viewing for synth heads â he used a luminous watch and geiger counter as a way of generating genuine random numbers in his music-making, with a PDP 8 minicomputer that took up pretty much a whole room of his house.
