OT - Photography advice needed. Iphone 12 or iPad Pro.

I have a birthday at the end of October and plan to buy myself either a new iPhone 12 or iPad Pro. I currently have an iPhone 8 plus, and the very early version of the iPad Pro. I am justifying this purchase with the upgrade in the camera, which also means that with the iPhone I would have to upgrade to the top model to get the best lens selection. I have a few DSLR's ranging from the lowly Canon M50 to a 5D Mark iii. But, I would really like the have the upgraded photo and video capabilities of the latest iPhone or iPad. The question is, which one? I would get a lot of use out of either one. Overall I would go with the phone because it is a camera in the pocket. The negative with the iPhone is the absence of the button on the new models. That really bothers me. The positive of the iPad Pro is the new connector. To me, a bonus.

So what is your opinion? There are people here that have opinions that I really value. Especially the many photography buffs.

I"d wait two weeks until we know what the iPhone 12 actually is.

True. I've been going by what Mac Rumors and other sites are putting out. So far it looks like the camera is not going to be a big improvement over the early 2020 iPad Pro.

As always, the best camera is the one you have with you.

So, get the iPhone. As you say, it fits in a pocket.

You'll always have it.

I was a photo major in college by the way, probably not my best choice but so it goes.

Taking good photos of stuff I sell has been valuable at least.

It took a chunk of my life to get here and I am still not sure where "here" is.
