surgevw
Fretting hand, I would figure. But on my strumming hand? I don't wail away, I am lucky if I practice more than 1/2 hour a night. I use a thin or meduim pick. Now I get occasional numbness and tinglies. Wrist and elbow hurts, too. I use a PC at work, but draw CADD so it it almost all mouse work. I changed to draw lefty 2 months ago,(when this started) but my right (strumming) hand isn't getting better. I changed my desk, but I am not sure that helped. Suggestions? Now I basically don't use my right hand for anything work related (except forum postings) I would figure playying 0.011" and 0.012" sets on a Strat would murder my fretting hand, so I am confused. Thanks Seth still a noob!
Base
I only get pain in my fretting hand when I play a lot of barre chords, and that is because I apply too much pressure, just don't seem to be able to apply less and have it sound ok?! Strumming hand can ache if it is a lot of fast strumming, but I'm talking about playing Pinball Wizard constantly for half an hour here! What exactly is it you are playing? Any new techniques or particular songs/chord progressions since the problem started? Fa Fa FA Fa fa fa fa fa FA fa FA FA
PBBPaul
My guess would be carpal tunnel from all that mousing. I'd see a doctor or start changing things up a bit more. Get your hand off that mouse and doing something different as much as you can during the day and try finger-picking as an antidotal exercise in the evening.
