maketin
Hi! Anyone know a site which gives you basic tone advice on how to create different sound of guitarists such as Vai, Satriani, B.B.King, SRV and so on?
picker
I haven't run across a site that has the collected information you want all in one scoop, so to speak. Guitar Player magazine has, in the past, published a lot of info about the equipment and technique of a lot of artists, and some of them have websites that detail their equipment setups, etc. You'll probably have to go at it one guy at a time, and do a bit of digging, but hey, that's half the fun. One other thing you might want to consider; two guitarists, playing the 3exactly same setup, can sound completely different. Technique, touch, even the shape of the tips of your fingers. all can make a big difference to the sound you produce. The best way to approach this is to listen closely to the guy you wanna cop a tone of off, get his sound in your head, and then start asking yourself "how can I make that sound?" instead of "how does he make that sound?" You are more likely to get something you end up liking that way, and you develop your own ears along the way. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
