Can somebody tell me what this is worth? (it's not a guitar, sorry)

A friend of mine has a Fender Leo Special banjo. Five strings, gold plated, heavy as all-get-out. I don't know what year it is, I haven't gotten so far as to look up Fender banjo serial numbers.

 

The serial number is 181452. If anyone knows anything bout this 'ere thing, and can give me a guesstimate, it's much appreciated.

Might be a 1966 or 1967 model. Not sure if they used the same serial # sequences for banjos as they did for guitars.

 

I know absolutely nothing about banjos or their value so I can't help you with that. Might try Gruhn guitars.

Fender doesn't have sales records or even serial number records going back that far. It says so on their web site.
