singoldafan
for the past two months, every time i play for more than a hour at a time my calluses would be torn and my fingers hurt like hell, anyways, i just figured out the problem: from the twelvth fret and up my fretwire is worn down so instead of being rounded at the top of the wire, its sharp and since i do alot of slides while playing solo, the fretwire was playing havoc with my fingers so for those of you who are having the same problem with your fingers, i suggest you check your fretwire (do yourself a favor dont wait two months!!) Finaly i need some advice as to what to do now, and what its gonna cost me. thank you and may god protect our fingers and our country.
NMcGuitar
You can probably just get those frets re-crowned (basically filed and shaped to the "right" profile). It's possible to do it yourself (several folks here have done it), but unless you are really confident in your abilities, I'd suggest you have a pro take care of it. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea what the cost would be. Dave da Dude
singoldafan, WELCOME!!! I'm not sure what a fret crowning costs, but it's been discussed here before and I think its in the $50 to $100 range. As for your fingers ..... Console yourself with what great calluses you'll have when they heal Dave the Eternal Optimist Gotta' geetar... got the amp. There must be SOMEthing else I... "need".
