Hello everyone

Have you tried any of these 3 Pickups ?

-DiMarzio Eric Johnson Custom DP 212

-Fralin Unbucker

-SK Guitar Dualtone/Dualtone II

After a ton of searching, I found that these three stand out for specializing in being Good humbuckers that can split into Good single coils. I read a ton about 10 + others but they were discussed as mainly great humbuckers, "and the coil tap was good too" was like a side note.

The reviews I've read of the Unbucker and Dualtones are encouraging but there are none yet for the DiMarzio EJ Custom... anyone got their hands on one yet?

thanks

Rivera + Fender Strat

I haven't tried any of those, but you may also want to check out the Seymour Duncan "Stag Mag" humbucker, a dual-coil hb with staggered rod-magnet polepieces similar to a Strat pickup's, to sound more natural when one coil is used for a single-coil sound.

You could also try a Duncan JB, for instance. It comes with four conductor wire, so you can either split the coils, or change the pickup phase from series (traditional humbucker sound), to parallel (lower output humbucking sound). The parallel wiring with the JB, and many other passive humbuckers built with this sort of wiring, gives a single coil-like sound, but with the unwanted noise removed.
