Vocal Effects: Mike Patton, eat your heart out.

Hey guys.

I'm right into the idea of vocal effects. I spend all my writing time trying to get AWAY From my usual sound, get AWAY from the norm, and make crazy, different riffs, vocals etc. And while I like to write common, metal songs, or nice, smooth melodic rock, I often just feel like busting out on a mic and doing some crazy singing / guitar shit ala mike patton or *insert crazy person here*.

My question is, do any of you know of any decent multi vox effects units, or guitar effects that I could use for vocals. Footswitches are a plus, but if not possible, a midi out which I can feed a midi footpedal system into is okay. The idea is to go out with it live as well as studio.

A guitar effects unit is an idea because I can also use it for that - however I am not sure if the effects used on most guitars would suit vocals... and vice versa. I'd also have to muck around with D/I's, balancing, etc etc... and it seems like a real hassle. Though it can be done. A minus to vox effects would be that I havent heard of any decent units. At all. In fact, most people slam them - though we all know people are very opinionated and against digital effects.

I have no problems with digital effects as long as they sound good.

Anyway. Anyone got any ideas?

Nolly, good to see you back. I think I missed mentioning that before.

There are several vocal processors around.

DigiTech makes several. The link is to the 300 model.

DOD makes the VoTec processor & acouple more that would work.

Those are foot switch controlled and there may be others I've not mucked around with.

Yamaha's AG Stomp might be usable for Vocal effects too, along with some other multi effects pedals that aren't necessarily built for vocals but might just give you some effects you like.
