revolead
I have a great book called "Wild Stringdom" written by Petrucci on his playing technique and style. It really is rather interesting. He uses tons of strange time signatures, and weird rhythms. His trademark is notes in groups of five, similar to triplets, but with five in place of four. He also loves modal work, including the Dorian and Lydian scales, as well as maj7 arpeggios. Seriously check out the book. In regards to his gear, I know he uses a sig model built by Ernie Ball for him, and several Mesa amps. A Mark III or IV? Or a recto? Shut up and play.
