mrhappy_dup1
Hey kids, Acquired an old Ampeg V4 cab. It's a 4x12 deal. It doesn't have any speakers in it. I was wondering if anyone had( or have used) one of these cabs and if so do they sound good enough to warrent loading it up with speakers. The other option would be the dreaded coffee table conversion! The construction seems quite good and it's a relatively compact 4x12. Thanks MH
gtrmac
Ampeg made some very solid cabinets and there is no reason not to load it with speakers and use it except that it will be a heavy son'bitch to carry around. My old bass player had a V-4 and cab and it was a great guitar amp with the original speakers which were CTS I think. Some WeberVST speakers would be a good choice or Celestion if you want the real deal (more $$) Mac Bowne G-Clef Acoustics Ltd. D. Gauss
aside from the hernia factor, it'll sound cool. if not, maybe you can sell it to lee flier, she HATES ampegs! -d. gauss
mrhappy_dup1
Yeah, I guess I should load it up and see what happens...just didn't feel like buying four speakers. Haven't tried the Webers but have a friend who really likes them. I've been into the Celestion 12T75's lately but I may try Emenince BR-8's ( their version of vintage 30's) as I can get them really cheap. Anyway thanks for the feedback(pun intended)!
