Kris
Ok I'm at a loss,,, I've brought my amp to three local repair guys and it seems that they are all stumped... Including the guy who has it now who says he's never had a Fender that he couldn't repair... It's a 1968 Super Reverb... Silverface shell but blackface insides (original blackface leaddress(sp?)) PROB: a subharmonic undertone .. ie when I play a note on guitar there is a really low farting noise underneath the note... the "really low farting noise" follows the pitch of the note I'm playing as I change notes. So far what has been done... 1) Tubes checked and replaced 2) replaced coupling caps and cathode caps 3) changed coupling caps to powertubes to a lower value 4) tried different power supply 5 tried different output transformer The problem occurs in both channels The vibrato and reverb have been disconnected The bias is set at 25 milliamps per tube Anyone want to take a shot or know a guy I might call? My amp's been f*ck'd for months and I'm freakin out! Kris My Band: http://www.fullblackout.com UPDATED!!! strat0124
Try running a extension cab and see if its still there in the ext cab. I've had speakers do that sort of thing before....but without hearing or being able to mess with it, its hard to tell. Good luck...thats a fine amp worth the effort. Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in

mrhappy_dup1
Sometimes bad filter caps can cause that effect. If you haven't changed those I'd give that a try. MH
