fantasticsound
Actually, I never had a chance to send him a cut! I was going to, perhaps, overnight one. I think he got up and run off with yer tunes!!!! (cue "Witchhunt" by Rush) ------------------Neil Reality: A few moments of lucidity surrounded by insanity. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. michael saulnier
No need to fret, anyone... (guitar puns... gotta love 'em)... I'm still around. I've just been BURIED with my latest biz stuff... I'm in full blown entrepreneur mode, and this is the first time I've had to check out the forum in several days. As far as the Guit Forum Comp CD, I have have received some submissions... I think the current total is 6 not counting my own tunes... The quality is generally high, and certainly all existing cuts will make it on whatever CD gets made. A special nod and smile for KHAN who kindly sent a cool live performance of his Floyd Tribute band along with a bunch of original tunes... Ummm... if there aren't enough entries to fill a CD, I'd be open to having more than one KHANish piece make it on board. Heck, I'd probably put two on myself. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Not quite enough for a decent CD... should we extend the timeline AGAIN? Or should I burn what I've got and send a copy back to the submitters? Considering the fact that the other two cd's were "funded" by contributions, I guess I should have asked for $20 bucks or something. Oh well... Discs are cheap, and the post office hasn't raised it's rates this week... And charity starts at home... Anyway, If you still have submissions, send me an e-mail at acousticvoodoo@yahoo.com and I'll send you my mailing address. Your call. guitplayer ------------------ http://www.mp3.com/acousticvoodoo Guitar Forum CD Info http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/Forum19/HTML/000537.html I'm still "guitplayer"! Scott from MA
Hey guitplayer... Are you guys only taking "technically brilliant" songs for this CD? I have a really simple little instrumental that I'd like to submit. It's only 1:30 long, and it's nothing fancy ('cause I'm a lousy guitarist), but I'd love to have it thrown in! You can check it out at http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/1744/1744243.html ------------------Scott(just another cantankerous bastard) Scott (just another cantankerous bastard)

Scott from MA
Thanks, Ted... but I've heard your songs, and they're a lot better than anything I do! What I really meant, though, was... are the songs supposed to be focused on guitar? My songs are just guitar, bass, and drum machine, but they aren't really a "guitar showcase"... they're just plain songs. The one I'm thinking of doesn't even have a "solo" or anything. Yikes...not necessarily, Scott...thanks, but don't diss yourself!!! Another board I frequent (www.recordingwebsite.com for the curious) does a series of comp CDs called the "Subterranean Recordings". There's a guy on there who's a self-described "dabbler". His musicianship is simple. Well, a bunch of us submitted songs for the CD...some flashy, some not. This guy's tune was very simple, acoustic and voice. It was also a hands-down winner...the kind of song that you just can't hear without wanting to sing along. He didn't intend it to be a masterpiece...but IMHO it was...a masterpiece of simplicity in catchy songwriting. I'd seriously love to hear someone like, oh, Arlo Guthrie or Randy Newman or someone like that cover the tune. So please don't sell yourself short!!! michael saulnier
Let me second Ted's thought... all entries are welcome. As long as there's space, I should get it on. Ted, thanks for the offer of $20.00. That one offer would probably cover all my materials and postage costs... http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif It's up to you! What about the time frame, should I burn and send what I have or are there a few more late sender's out there. Chip, Lee, Curve, Alpha... anyone? guitplayer ------------------ http://www.mp3.com/acousticvoodoo Guitar Forum CD Info http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/Forum19/HTML/000537.html I'm still "guitplayer"! fantasticsound
Maybe if you extend it one more week, we could all push for other posters to send what they have... Uh.. well, yeah... Comps been a bit on the fritz, I had to nail down this job with Gibson (yes, I'll be in customer support as of Monday, 8am) and I HAVE been busy and need a little more time to record, burn and send my selection(s). http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gifhttp://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/wink.gif Let us know if that will work for everyone. If not, I'll catch you guys the next time around...whenever that may be. ------------------Neil Reality: A few moments of lucidity surrounded by insanity. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Chip, Lee, Curve, Alpha... anyone? Yeah, although I've just got pieces of pieces at the moment: sort of trying to get past a project quandary I seem to have gotten into. I may at worse see if I can't find something from when I played in a Floyd tribute band as well, although the recording quality will be "questionable/board tape".... ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien
